The muslim artist formerly known as Cat Stevens, now Yusef Islam, has a number of hit singles being played on Afghani radio these days:
"I'm Being Followed By a Cruise Missile"
"My Bunker Has Broken"
"I'm Going Off the Rails on a Crazy Peace Train"
Surely there are others....

How could someone so talented become a Muslim? I don't get it.
I used to like him and even had one of his albums. What's his background? Why and how did he become a muslim?

LOL!!!!
I'm looking for a bag-headed woman,
One who will make me feel so good,
And if I find my bag-headed woman,
I know my life will be as it should...

I'm sure it's on some fan's website the exact details of his conversion. As I recall, Cat was in the surf at Malibu (somewhere off California anyhow) and thought he was about to drown. A huge wave had come in or something like that and the undertow was taking him out to sea. He prayed to Allah, about whom someone had apparently just witnessed to him, and was saved. So he became a Muslim. That's as much detail as I can remember.

LOL! Longer Boats is one of my favorite Cat Stevens songs, although I never really understood it until I heard the bootleg version where he sings another last verse - about UFOs.
