I am going to admit that I didnt quite understand why prominent republicans werent more involved in promoting Earley.

A little here...a little there and we would've pulled this out.

I wouldnt mind knowing the mental process behind W. not at least doing a thirty second spot for him.

???

Oh well.

Honestly......the threat was McEachin(sp?) that cat is a bonafide Clintonista. He really would've screwed the pooch. The anti-gun lobby would've had all kinds of ammo after about one year of this idiot not enforcing the law.

Small to medium victory.

As you are aware by now, the Republican Party of Virginia scored bigtime in the General Assembly (House of Delegates).

What is Earley other than a RINO? I heard nothing about school choice, MORE tax cuts, SPENDING CUTS, elimination of unconstitutional bullet taxes or gun sale taxes, nothing that matters to conservatives.

Conservatives in Virginia are ticked off that we didn't even get rid of the car tax. The GOP handed us a lemon. They can suck that lemon themselves. What you saw this year was a conservative base that didn't bother to vote. I voted. But frankly, I was far from excited about that turkey. And so were Virginia conservatives. I think a third party could pick up a lot of local positions in this state. The Virginia GOP certainly is a loser. They want to lose because they feed off the status quo.

I preface this by saying that Earley lost this himself. He's a very good amn and I thought he'd be a great Governor, but he was a lousy candidate.

As for W's mental process...it's the same process that pitted him against TX Republicans in favor of the Dems in their State House...the same process that had him declare in his campiagn "Congress (read that GOP) shouldn't balance the budget on the backs of the poor", in the middle of their campaigns too, the same process that has him in head to head confabs with his new best friend Tom Daschle while Lott gets his info from the news. The same process that has him entangling us in a coalition with terrorist states and turning our back on Israel. In short, Bush was afraid to appear political because it might damage bipartisianship. Screw the GOP, he figures he can always count on their support...maybe not. Bush has a very unsavory habit of abandoning friends to appease his enemies.

BTW about that new spirit of bi-partisanship...when do you think Daschle will let the Senate vote on drilling for oil in ANWAR, or when will he urge his party to adoupt the President's airline security plan?
