GULBAHAR, Afghanistan -- Four Western men in wraparound sunglasses and U.S. sportswear were on the sidelines watching and videotaping as anti-Taliban troops practiced for battle on a barren hillside Sunday.

When a journalist asked who they were and what they were doing, the men went deeper under cover of their Afghan head scarves and refused to speak. They ducked into a white van with blue curtains and sped off, and the Northern Alliance's military maneuvers went on without them.

It's appalling, that's for sure. Especially since ABC has to know the Taleban have put a bounty on Americans. I think they are itching to capture one and torture him on camera, for the shock value. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Taleban attack on Bagram today.

I'm writing to ABC right now, and having considerable trouble controlling my temper. Going after ratings is one thing. Deliberately putting the lives of our troops in jeopardy is quite another.

Some people in the media don't really support the United States. But they love us in Poland, as you can see in this picture from 9/12/01 outside the U.S. embassy in Warsaw, Poland. God Bless the Poles, and I must say they are extremely generous with their candles.

"The FBI needs to start arresting some reporters."

Far better to let the CIA handle them.

Junger should be fired by ABC for this. Or fired at, either one.

Here's mine, Travis:
I do not watch Nightline very often. ABC's biased, un-American reporting is usually more than I can take. However, despite your obvious biases, I have never until this evening considered ABC to be staffed by genuine traitors.

Tonight on Nightline, Sebastian Junger revealed that American soldiers were in forward postitions inside the control tower at the Bagram AFB.

Are you so venal that you would sacrifice American lives for the sake of your ratings? What if those men were your sons?

Going after ratings is one thing. But recklessly endangering the lives of our troops for the sake of your ratings reveals an appalling indifference to the outcome of this war and an inability to distinguish right from wrong.

Junger must be fired. Furthermore, ABC owes America an apology.

I think ABC and Nightline need a major freep over this.

Clearly, Junger was peeved that he and the other reporters are no longer welcome at Bagram AFB, but criminy, the NA's leader and hero Massoud was KILLED by a bogus "television crew"!

Now Junger has told the Taliban snipers exactly where to focus to get a clear shot at Americans!

Junger needs to be fired over this.

When word about this filters down to the specops community, Junger is in for a "run of bad luck".

Maybe starting with his "info stud" movie star face.

LOL. Methinks he best flee the front lines now. And not come back here either. Maybe he can wheedle asylum out of China.

It is definitely time for some stray rounds to hit ol' Sebastian. I don't know maybe some .50 cal fire that just happens to take his head off might give encouragement to other reporters to not endanger US troops. Alternatively someone tossing him a frag to hold for its final seconds would also do the trick. Hey Sebastian! Catch.

Do you think that ABC deserves a special freep thread over this?

Thanks for the Hugh Hewitt bump.

I found an inexpensive program that helps with recording Mr. Hewitt's show for listening the next morning which is the only time I can listen. It is called Total Recorder and at $11.95 is as easy to install and set up as any program I have used. The three hours use up 230, thousand bytes but I HAVE to have my Hewitt or I'll croak!

Link to Total Recorder

No.

ABC's SPONSORS deserve a special FReep thread over this. Why just punch a man in the nose when kicking him in the groin is so much more satisfying?

I actually think ABC deserves a rolling thunder air strike for this along with a daiy cutter at their HQ but in lieu of those I heartily endorse a special ABC Freep thread I have already e-mailed them.

I have been off-line for HOURS. ISP problems.

What is the latest with Sebastian Junger and NIGHTLINE?

Are there any other threads discussing this? Any response from the network?

FYI, Hugh will be on the air in the next ten minutes.
You can LISTEN LIVE over the Internet at KRLA 870-AM in Los Angeles
