GULBAHAR, Afghanistan -- Four Western men in wraparound sunglasses and U.S. sportswear were on the sidelines watching and videotaping as anti-Taliban troops practiced for battle on a barren hillside Sunday.
When a journalist asked who they were and what they were doing, the men went deeper under cover of their Afghan head scarves and refused to speak. They ducked into a white van with blue curtains and sped off, and the Northern Alliance's military maneuvers went on without them.

(Sorry, Hugh. Living in Los Angeles, I cannot get too worked up about professional sports teams dumping a local market. WE have already been there, done that, and have the T-shirt - as it were.)
Rumsfeld flew from Washington to Moscow on Friday in the well-appointed military passenger jet he customarily uses. But on his visits to the countries bordering Afghanistan, he flew in a massive C-17 cargo plane loaded with equipment designed to repel heat-seeking missiles. The plane flew for about 10 minutes Sunday in Afghan airspace, crossing the country at its narrowest point on the way from Uzbekistan to Pakistan. The plane flew 39,000 feet above sea level, far too high to be in danger from enemy fire.
Plane Takes No Chances Coming Into Pakistan
On the way into Chakala air base in Pakistan, the Air Force crew flying the plane took no chances. They made what the Air Force calls a tactical landing, plunging from 18,000 feet to 1,000 feet in one minute and rocking back and forth on the way down to limit the craft's exposure to potential enemy fire. A U.S. helicopter was shot at over Pakistan two weeks ago.
I think the other article has potentially less info useful to the other side than this one!
Get a grip - if this article is the worst our boys have to face, I'll be happy.
Do you think this is WWII or something?
If we have learned ONE THING about our wonderful "media," it is that irresponsible conduct not confronted immediately and forcefully will grow and be repeated, and with ever-greater treachery.
I do not share your sanguine attitude about the potential damage represented by the CURRENT actions of our irresponsible media, but even if this were NOT as serious as many of us think, the NEXT TIME, it will be.
Better a little OVER-reaction now, than irreparable harm later, eh?
He was talking about how he and other reproters were no longer allowed onto Bagram AFB, (former Soviet AFB on the frontline, just inside NA territory).
But he said that it is rumored that the American troops were there, directing the fire of our bombers on the Taliban.
HE EVEN SAID "THE AMERICANS ARE IN THE AIRPORT CONTROL TOWER"!!!!!!!!!
Hey Sebastian, you pretty boy dips#!t, why don't you announce your wife's home address on the air? Why don't you mention which school your kids attend?
YOU JUST PUT THE LIVES OF AMERICANS AT RISK FOR YOUR LITTLE SCOOP!!!!!
ABC is competing with CNN for the most pro taliban network.
"I watched Nightline tonight, and I was shocked beyond belief when Sebastian Junger in Northern Afghanistan reported on the presence of American troops on the (former Soviet) Bagram Air Force Base. This base, as you know, is right on the front line with the Taliban positions. Junger, incredibly, reported that the Americans were directing the bombing from the control tower! He gave an exact pinpoint location of Amercan troops, putting their lives in danger. Need I remind you that the former leader of the Northern Alliance Massoud was killed by suicide bombers posing as a television crew? Please inform Mr. Junger that our forces do not appreciate having their location pinpointed within sniper range of the enemy!"
Pinpointing American troop location in sniper range of the enemy, that is beyond belief!!!
