Bush's symbolic act taught America a lesson about the man. He's brave, self-confident and humble.

Outstanding post. Thanks for sharing.

I was informed today by the former State Republican Chair that not only did W pitch a strike, but that he did it while wearing a 45 lb flack jacket.

Over the top illogical, but amusingly true.

Cool hand "W". Texas good ole boy and horse trader. Finest kind of man anywhere. I hate to burst Ms. Parker's bubble but what "W" did was easy for him. But I liked what she wrote anyway....

It was so incredible that a man who had the ability and responsibility of the leader of the free world would have the guts to not only put himself in what would appear to be extreme physical danger but also put so much credibilty at stake by throwing that pitch from the mound. And this was to teach us not fear and to go on enjoying our lives. WHAT A PRESIDENT WE HAVE! All this done without milking the moment - just matter of factly done. But I saw on his face recognition of the awsomeness of moment. He is the real deal - I hope our country doesn't forget it.

OMG. In Kathleen Parker, the Orlando Sentinel has found a worthy successor to Charlie Reese. And she's a girl!

Clinton has his Rhodes? Even conservative columnists seem to accept this big lie of the liberal media.

Correction. Clinton was given a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford by his political patron, Senator Fullbright. But he never did any academic work that we know of, he organized protests against his own country instead of attending classes, and he dropped out after one term--or may have been kicked out for raping a fellow student. That is a mark of distinction?

Isn't it time that some enterprising newsman released clinton's academic records?

Thanks,JeanS for the post.I thoroughly enjoyed it,especially this line:

A man who can throw a perfect pitch can probably throw a pretty good spear.

That pitch really was awesome! I've seen W throw out first pitches before, and I was cringing in anticipation of a two hopper to the catcher. But he flung that ball sure and easy and it nailed the strike zone - it even had a little movement breaking to the right towards the middle of the plate. It truly did symbolize the way he, and our country, has "cranked it up a few notches" and focused in on the target.

Bravo for posting this Jean. Pres. Bush showed what leadership is all about. He strolled magnificently to the mound! He was a standing target for the devils and did not flinch. seemingly, all the secret service and soldiers guarding him that day were miles away. He showed me a lot and to top it off, he throws a perfect strike (which of course would have left the park if Mac, Sosa or Bonds were at bat).

I am not a baseball fan, but, I had to watch because it
was the Pres. He didn't disappoint. Impressive.
