Check here for FreeRepublic thread Trading Blows: Seymore Hersh vs. Gen. Barry McCaffery on supposed US War Crimes in Iraq

Hersh's reporting has always been suspect.

I'm not buying any of it. I think the whole thing is "crap".

#7 I'm not sure I buy anything Hersh writes. In fact, I don't buy any sensationalism, and for sure don't need to know everything that goes on. If casualties happen, we will be told by credible sources.

I dont buy a word of this . Anyone who ever served in some capacity of a special forces unit knows the way the article was written does not reflect the training . I can not find any credibility in ths article .

The whole thing sounds slanted toward Taliban. Let's see: Taliban was smarter than we were because, though we pride ourselves on stealth, we weren't as stealthy as they were... Taliban are better fighters than we are, as their intensity and ferocity scared the crap out of us...we didn't find a single thing of any value in Mullet's house, which shows how "poor" our intelligence is and/or how futile our goals are...and the Pentagon is rethinking even letting out Special Forces go back in there because it was such a failure. blablabla

Does this even sound like a military officer? Doesn't to me. "Hey, we went in there and they had GUNS! GUNS I say. And they had live ammo. And it was all just a bit much. We had to lie down and take a brief respite."

I'm with you. My husband and I are good friends with a former Green Beret and I can't even fathom him being afraid of anything. These guys are beyond well-trained.
