Remember this story last week? (Pardon my formatting, I'm a longtime lurker, new poster) Investigators probe theft of fertilizer in Whitman Boston Herald; Boston, Mass.; Oct 24, 2001; Laurel J. Sweet; An "olive-skinned" man in a button-down shirt, neatly creased pants and shiny black shoes fled with 1,000 pounds of fertilizer from a Whitman landscaping business yesterday morning when the owner caught him stuffing bagfuls into a van, officials said.

Just a small confiming point: 1000 lbs. of fertilizer at 4 lbs./gal.=200 gallons=five 55gal. drums. Werern't six seen in the van? Pretty close!

Wow, I didn't hear that story. This whole law enforcement thing is a comedy of errors, but it worked better as humor in the Keystone Cops. This is discouraging and frustrating to witness the ineptitude, or whatever it is, of the systems that are supposed to protect us.
