I heard about this 3 weeks ago from a lady whose son works in the Intelligence 'biz'. Wasn't sure what to make of it then, or now.

Just what I thought. It's another Jerry Reed-Burt Reynolds-Jackie Gleason caper, right?

"They have trucks already."

I had not thought of this but they probably do. They certainly had enough cash available to them, we know they were trying to buy planes.

within the last 24 hours, more than 30 Ryder, U-Haul, and Verizon trucks have been reported stolen across the country. The U-Haul and Ryder trucks were rented and then never returned, so they're considered stolen. Many of them were rented by people of Arab descent.

Maybe they've heard some of their friends have been given sodium pentathol. Let's hope they were all using the trucks to move out of the country.

Actually, they're reporting it says U.S-Midwest Inc., on it. But still no mention if it was empty or not.

I was one of the twenty-five Americans who saw "W.W. and the Dixie Dance Kings." I'm still traumatized. 8-o

(There wasn't much else to do in town when I was 12).

this one bears repeating:

Unfortunately, it is necessary to pay attention to ALL odd incidents, because we do not know which ones are regular crimes and which ones are associated with terrorists. It is necessary to also note odd occurrences that are not crimes, like large orders for odd items, people asking unusual questions, etc. The only way we will stop these people is if everyone pays attention. In the process, we might also find a drop in the crime rate.

Hey everybody, Sorry for the mass email, but I got important news tonight. My dad works for FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) and he's really involved with the goings on in NYC. He told me that within the last 24 hours, more than 30 Ryder, U-Haul, and Verizon trucks have been reported stolen across the country. The U-Haul and Ryder trucks were rented and then never returned, so they're considered stolen. Many of them were rented by people of Arab descent. I don't mean to make any assumptions, and I certainly don't want to scare you, but I thought you all might like to know. Be wary of these vehicles, pay attention to them, and don't walk or park near them. He said to stay out of major public places if at all possible because recreational sites would most likely be hit on weekends. I'm sorry to cause alarm, but he told me it was OK to share this information. If you'd like to forward it to anyone you know, feel free, as there is a possibility it might save lives.

BS BS BS

This is just more "friend of a friend" BS and rumors. This is just some immature kid trying to feel important. It's happening every day, and it detracts from the real pursuit of the real bad guys.

This is nothing more than rumormongering and is a pain in the arse to LEOs chasing the real terrorists.

The stupid rumors are easy to spot. Noting verfitable, no hard facts, no descriptions, no dates and places. No one to call to check it out. Again, somebody stole some truck from somewhere sometine.

If we don't stop this stupid juvenile rumormongering, FR will become the laughing stock of net.

Remeber, on net, we are all own editors. Also remember the old editors admonition to young reporters.

"If your mother says she loves you;
Check it out!

Before posting anything on FR, ask yourself, does this pass the "stupid test"?

Do you think JimRob would let me change my FR name to 'rumourmonger'?

Thanks for pointing that out..although, as I'm sure you can appreciate, my intention wasn't to spread more "BS" (as you say).

OTOH why do I keep hearing about all the rental trucks that blew up in Manhattan and DC on the Morning of 9-11? Why are they staying quiet about that?

You're really not doing too well today, are you? At least you didn't post it in breaking news!

"I don't believe they would do a high-profile theft for their attack. Not when they have infiltrated society so well. They have trucks already."

I agree.

How often are semi tractors stolen?

Happens all the time. You'd be surprised how common it is.

I wonder: How often are semi tractors stolen? I would guess it happens from time to time.

Actually it happens all the time.
Its just that now more notice is taken of it.
