Anyone who can describe the difference between "eaux" and "oux" knows what aubergine means!
Great idea, MM. Ha! I will now visualize each winner wearing a hat with the saying, "I asked a stupid press question" on it. :-) Of course, this hat will be shaped like a very tall triangle.
REMEMBER THE TRADE CENTER!!
AMERICAS WAR ON TERROR Day 53
Were Rolling Now!! Day 27
The news as reported in The Washington Times:
[Note All links go to The Washington Times website.]
1. Secretary Rumsfeld has said American ground force levels will increase.
[Excellent!]
2. The United States has stated it WILL NOT stop military operations for Ramadan.
[Also excellent!!]
( No pause in bombing for Ramadan month )
3. Senior Administration officials know about Pakistan's aid to the Talibums, but chose to praise their support of America's war effort.
[I really hope that's just the public posture. Pakistan's duplicity is too much!]
( White House knows of Pakistan aid to Taliban militia)
4. The FBI warned Kantafordia and seven other western states about possible attacks to landmark targets, especially suspension bridges.
[Ugh.]
(FBI cites threat to coastal bridges )
5. The United States is said to be looking forward to winter in Afgoneistan.
[This probably has to do with our air mobility.]
( U.S. sees winter as advantage)
6. The House passed its version of the Airline Safety Bill - this version keeps security in private hands with Federal oversight. It will have to be reconciled with the Senate version, which Federalizes the entire operation.
[Much better bill than the Senate. Hopefully it will carry the day. Now off to conference it goes.]
( House passes bill on aviation security)
7. Four new mailrooms in Maryland test positive for anthrax - all Federal mailrooms, at the Rockville headquarters of the Food and Drug Administration.
[If it weren't so serious, there's a certain irony to this.]
( Four mailrooms test positive for anthrax )
8. The Postal Service bought 700,000 protective masks to guard their workers against anthrax, but OSHA regulations prevent their use until signficant training is undertaken.
[Utterly amazing. Write your Congresscritters on this one. I am.]
( OSHA halts mask use in Postal Service)
We shall not rest until we have cut a swath 60-miles wide through the entire left - taking all that is before us with us as we go. We shall leave nothing to the enemy that may be of value to him. We shall show him that he may count on nothing and will be able to keep nothing, not his spirit, not his soul, not that upon which he shall feed. We shall not cease until the moment we have rent through their entire land and have arrived at the sea, with our glorious victory upon us.

Gulfcoast6...that question was in the running ..although the answer was worth hearing the question, wasn't it? The answer was "to kill them." HA!
The reason I didn't use that question is because I didn't know who the reporter was, and I did recognize Major Garrett when his question was asked.
I would say that your example is a good one. We MUST get the names of these people! I recognize a few from television, and I know a couple of the print reporters because they have been on C-SPAN. I have suggested to the DoD that they IDENTIFY the questioners in the transcripts. So far, no luck. Darn!
Many places give them. Check large supermarket chains. Costco does it each year. Probably other "club" outlets too. There's usually a nominal (less than $10) fee to go with it.
Basically, they can be had, even if not from your clinic.
True story. As Cornwallis' lieutenants were negotiating with Washington and the French over the terms of the British surrender at Yorktown, one of the terms was that the custom of the surrendering army playing a tune of the victors was cast aside. The British would play a popular tune, period. The song they chose was quite apropos, given the fact that the most powerful country in the world had been whupped by a ragtag Army of colonists.
The name of the song was: The World Turned Upside Down. 8^)
Want to know what it is?
Two nights in a row this has happened. NOW I'm afraid to change it. :-)
So i'm with ya there toots. ROTFLMAO.
You should be getting a shipment of Espresso by tomorrow. You should always drink it around the 5th or 6th inning. 8^)
