On Capitol Hill, Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-Ga., a critic of U.S. policy in Afghanistan, makes her opening statement at a House International Relations subcommittee hearing on Afghanistan and the Taliban ,Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, in Washington. McKinney makes the point that an unexploded U.S. cluster bomb packet, left, looks very similar, in size and color, to a U.S. air-dropped food ration, right. Both have been dropped from planes on Afghanistan (AP Photo/Kenneth Lambert)
She has playing with the kids in arts and crafts a little too long. Anyone can wrap a can of coke and small book in yellow construction paper. They only similarity between the food packets and the cluster bombs is the color. Granted, that is pretty stupid, and something only the government could bring us ("hey, lets make both the food packets and the bombs the same color"). But it is quite obvious the size difference between the two.1 - Excellent post, Tatze! Far and away the BEST quote on this wonderful thread! The correct way to go about this is to simply question the wisdom of coloring these two particular objects the same color. But like a typical DemocRat, McKinney has to go for sensationalism, ignoring the fact that she has to lie to get it. Actually, since the issue is color, and McKinney is involved, Im truly amazed she isnt crying racism.
2 - RJayneJ - This needs some special award, eh?
3 - I am indexing this thread for the Hugh Hewitt bump_list.
If anyone finds ANY thread that may be of interest to nationally syndicated talk show host Hugh Hewitt (or his listeners), just post a reply to "Hugh Hewitt," and THAT thread will be marked for retrieval, when that bump_list link is clicked.
Check out the posts ALREADY marked for Hugh's attention at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/involved?group=81, and,
on threads marked on the OTHER interesting "bump_lists" on John Robinson's official "Free Republic Bump List Register."For more about Hugh, read HUGH HEWITT and Free Republic: How should we help him help us? [Who **IS** this guy?]
Nationally syndicated radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt mentioned Cynthia McKinney's inane speech about confusing bombs for food on his program today. He shared your opinion of this foolishness.
He sent her an angry email. She (or someone in her office) REROUTED his original, erasing the header, to his own Congressman with his signature! Fortunately, he and his Congressman (Ralph Hall) are good friends so Hall called him, all upset to confront him for sending such a cruel note and they got the issue cleared up.
MAYBE THIS HAPPENED TO YOU?? Maybe your Congressman thinks YOU sent him/her a similar angry note???
THIS WOMAN DOESN'T KNOW THE MEANING OF THE WORD - ETHICS!!
I stand corrected. Maybe she didn't do it deliberately.
But she's still a jerk.... :-/
We would love to. Unfortunately the room temperature IQs in her district whom she so aptly represents keep electing her (with the help of the Democrat controlled state political machine that gerreymanders a district to fit her racist views) She also is the darling of the Atlanta Paper which never misses an opportunity to praise her and almost never prints anything critical about her.
Someone called her one of the post pugnaciously ignorant politicians in Washington today. Good description
