To all evidence, polygraphs are snake oil. A skilled operator might wring a confession out of an ignorant examinee now and then, but a proof? Ridiculous.

Polygraph "testing" has no scientific basis: it's a fraud that depends on the examinee's ignorance and fear of the procedure. You might be interested in AntiPolygraph.org's free book on polygraphy, The Lie Behind the Lie Detector, which can be downloaded here (503kb PDF):

Parents today are a little too willing to let the schools run rampant over their kids' rights. Their attorney should have told the school officials to back off and followed it with a suit to sue if they didn't.

"...kids' rights...": BARF

The problem is parents don't parent. They leave it up to the schools to raise and discipline the brats; consequently, the schools can't educate them, and episodes like this are the result.

I've already thought about this "suspension" of certain Constitutional rights. It sucks. However, I think a Federal judge will put limits on it or do it the Constitutional way and "veto" it. But I suspect the judge will put limits on it. That's my hope anyway.

Great strategy. Numb the populace that polygraphs are an acceptable tool in work, then schools, then everywhere. No big deal - it "protects" the innocent.

Then of course comes the convenience of determining the results of a polygraph to benefit the state. When did YOU stop beating your wife? LOL.

Perhaps the Superintendent wouldn't mind if he was hooked up to the Machine and asked a few questions about his personal life....
