About 500 people packed the state Capitol steps Saturday afternoon for a rally to oppose U.S. bombing in Afghanistan organized by local groups.

The red star put the number at 500.

Good work! We love you. Thank you for being there. We freeped the same kind of creeps in Fresno CA Friday night. When I yelled, "Liberate the women of Afghanistan!" They yelled back, "By killing them?" I didn't think fast enough. My response should have been (and next time will be): "I'd rather be dead than a slave to the Taliban! Give me liberty or give me death!" (or something like that). But not to worry, we gave them lots of grief in every other way. For victory & freedom!!!

You did good, and our Patriots in Minnesota stood up yesterday.

I watched the local news last night to see how they would report the event.

To my amazement, they quoted the FREEPERS and the anti-americans totally failed to get their side expressed on TV.

My fellow Freepers, I am so dang proud of you!!!!!!

Brrrr! Looks cold out there.

No American flags among the "we want to kiss Osama's ass" crowd?
No wonder.
They HATE the flag.

:

Thanks for braving the cold to be there.

Isn't it amazing how when it comes to anti-Americans numbers are ludicrous . And when it comes to Patriots...there isn't but a handful. I'll be glad when more Patriots get off their red, white and blue duffs and take the First Amendment back and show those traitors what the First Amendment is about...AMERICA.

Pics from the FReep...

This is one of the first sights I saw. Brought a tear to my eye...

Aeronaut is on the far left and Valin is on the far right...

A group that came together. Don't know if they are a family or not...

A look at the lunatics...

Here they are putting on some interpretive, mime-ish, artsy play about how the US is greedy for oil and profits, blah blah blah. It lasted forever and was BORING...

This is the only US flag I saw over on their side. And they defaced it, turned it upside down and had it dragging on the ground...

I think that is gore_sux with the "We Won't Forget" sign, but I'm not positive. My apologies gore_sux if I'm mixing you up with someone else!

Sorry, this one got cut off when I uploaded it. On the right is the hippie giving the peace sign. The sign says "You're All A Bunch Of Clowns"...by far one of the best signs there that day!

Here is one of the Peaceniks over on our side trying to "debate"...awww....she LOVES us!

And here is a picture of one of the cops who found our chants highly amusing...

This was my first attempt with a scanner so sorry some pics got cut off. But at least you get the idea!

Speaking of Minnesota... Is there a local "chapter"? When's the next event? I'm here in Minneapolis and would like to get involved.

First of all, I see you are a new member here...welcome to FR! :-)

I would suggest registering your location so you can go to "My Locale" where you will find the Minnesota posting board. That's where most of the discussion and planning occurs.

Here is another independent report about the Freep. I’m hoping that my fellow MSP Freepers will have fun poking holes in the report.

1,000 Demonstrate Against War

by Christopher Loch 12:23pm Sun Oct 28 '01 (Modified on 9:35pm Sun Oct 28 '01)

contempla@riseup.net

1,000 or so demonstrated against the ongoing war in Afganistan and the wider War Against Terrorism that threatens to consume any remaining traces of Democracy the world around.

St. Paul, MN-- October 27

1,000 or so demonstrated at the State Capitol Building in St. Paul against the ongoing war in Afghanistan and the wider War Against Terrorism that threatens to consume any remaining traces of Democracy the world around. Old people and young people alike attended, with wonderful exchanges between generations that proves that Tom Brokaw's rightwing vision of his "Greatest Generation" is inaccurate.

The demonstration began around 2PM, with the crowd filling the steps of the Capitol building and spilling into the lower parking area. A wide range of groups and speakers attended and participated. Official groups endorsing the protest were Veterans for Peace, Jews for Justice, Arab Students Association and the Students Against War at the University of Minnesota, Women Against Military Madness, the Anti-War Committee, and many others. There were religious, political, academic and trade unionist groups among them, with at least 10 speakers pronouncing their views and defining their opposition to this war, and war in general.

In addition, a small group of counter-protesters pleading with the protesters to "give war a chance" were present. Such outlandish statements as "Nuke'em!" and "You are Traitors" were written on their placards and shouted from the small but rowdy group. A loud whistle could be heard being blown by on of the counter demonstrators at certain points in speeches. Specifically when words that exposed the gaping anomalous holes in the paradigm of war were being spoken. But, over all, the counter demonstrators did more listening to the protestors and speakers than shouting their own messages, amazingly--something that speaks to power and truth of the message of the protestors perhaps.

There was no violence at the protest, although one particularly belligerent chap in a black leather jacket who was there as a counter protestor did lunge at seemingly harmless man at least twice his age. The small number of State Patrol and Capitol security were able to subdue him before he could successfully strike the older man. The pugnacious young man was not removed from the Capitol grounds or arrested.
