Not to be judgemental, but I think a few of our worthy compatriots are having a tad bit of a try at getting on HMS. Mayhaps the next Watson Waughnabe thread should include links to previous WW threads.

Or, on the other hand, we could not bother and simply use them for straight lines.

I guess I must be a rougher sort of fellow, perhaps one of the yobs that Mr. watsonfellow would no doubt find distasteful consuming high tea at the Savoy (how I got in there in spite of my Fulham FC shirt, I'll never know ;))

But my opinion of this affair is distinctly contrary to watsonfellow. I believe President Bush didn't go quite far enough. In my parlance, bin Laden is a putrifying piece of camel excrement, a child raping murderer of innocents, who ought to have his goolies spliced off with a rusty spoon and shoved down his hopefully tumour infested throat until he chokes on them, and then sent on his merry way to Satan who will hopefully repeatedly gouge out his eyes with a red hot poker for all eternity.

And I am restraining myself in saying that. Good manners, you know. ;)

Regards, Ivan

"? I suggest that President Bush call Mr. Bin Laden, "our distinguished opponent." Not only does that sound less judgemental, it is also much more civilized.

Nope, "Evil One" sounds fine to me.

Hot dayamn, you fellers shore do talk funny. I wuz tellin Emmy Lou down at the feed store yesterday, "Emmy," I sez, "whatchoo think of this here 'Watsonfellah' and his buddy Benny Laden, anyhows?"

Hawking a tobacco-stained loogie at the cuspidor in the corner, she sez "well, Bill, I gotta be honest witchoo. First, it's "Bin Laden," you know, like my brother "Bin Fishin'" or my daddy "Bin Tajail." Second, thishere 'watsonfellah' is kinda a striped-ass polecat, what this other guy Evelyn Waugh called a 'ponce'."

Well, Emmy Lou shore is pretty after her weekly flea-dip, so I wasn't gonna say anything, but shee-it, she shore don't know nuthin' about litachoor. I mean, "Evelyn Waugh" is a guy?

I don't think we should even use his name. Like Prince lets change his name to a symbol. Maybe a happy face.

I say, old boy, this making sport of my old chum watsonfellow is just so delightfully tiresome, I simply can't stay awake!

"This is why I call Bush, "Shrub" for he will be a "Shrub" an unintelligent, uncreative, puke...."

I assume then, my dear watsonfellow, that "unintelligent, uncreative, puke" would be an acceptable appellation for Mr. bin Laden?

I am unsure whether this usage is proper form for the rabble, or may be employed only by the Mandarin class.

Please advise.

Okay, how about "An Evil One"? Since, however, he is the focus, at the present, of the current mess, both in terms of our actions and his involvement, the use of "the" is perfectly suitable. Calling him, "our distinguished opponent", unless you're being really sarcastic, presupposes that we're both inhabiting merely different regions of the same moral turf. Your suggestion, if serious, is as ludicrous as police spokesmen who refer to a serial killer as "the gentleman". I've heard them do something this stupid. Please, don't join them.

I find this term to be excessively judgemental

Well what would you suggest we call someone who causes the murder and injury of thousands of your fellow countrymen? I don't think distinguished statesmen or honorable anything applies. If we had no evidence to come to this conclusion it would be one thing, but the man openly advocates the murder of thousands of Americans. So we have basis to make the judgment. So old Osama is hardly sweetie of the month?

Bin Laden and any other low life vermin that use terrorism to wage war deserve to be called "evil" at the very least.

How do you feel about UBL calling America "the great satan" ?

Worring about politically correct language is a waste of resources. Should President Bush refer to UBL as the "poor misguided youth" ? The dude is evil plain and simple.
