And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan (Exodus 6:3-4).
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel (Eze 11:17)
The Bush administration's shifting policy toward Israel, including support for a Palestinian State, should be of grave concern to every Bible-believing American. U.S. policy, which effectively opposes Israel's right to self-defense, is so thoroughly hypocritical, especially in light of the U.S. action in Afghanistan, that even Congressional Democrats who favor a Palestinian state are reacting to it. But far more important:
--God's covenant with the Jewish people regarding their inheritance of the land of Israel is one of the most frequently mentioned themes in Holy Scripture. God will keep His promises. American Christians must not stand idly by and allow our young-Christian President to be hoodwinked by advisors who do not know the Bible or the God of the Bible (see Gen 15:18; 17:8; 28:13-15; 35:1213; Dt 30:1-6; Jer 11:5; 30:3; 32:37-33:26; Eze 11:16-17; 20:41-44; 34:12-13; 36:22-24; 38:8; 39:25-28; 47:13-48:35; Amos 9:13-15; Zec 7:14; 8:1-8).
--God is watching. Although He lifted His Hand to allow the terrible attacks that have led to the present war, we believe His hand of protection has not been removed totally. But we also believe that if we abandon Israel, whether motivated by oil, military or political strategy or for our own nation's self preservation, it will be "the last straw" for America. God's hedge, upon which we depend, could be lifted from our beloved land altogether. God is Judge of all nations! (Ps 9:17; 82:1; Is 2:4a; Zec 2:7-13; 12:3; 14:3).
God warned Israel not to trust in horses or chariots but to trust in the Lord our God. America must do likewise and stand by Israel even if it means alienating many others. If we bend, in the long run, these nations will hate us still and we will have lost everything - including God's favor. Although the administration is vacillating and may appear to be shoring up its commitment to Israel, President Bush needs to hear from each of us. Please take time right away to write President Bush a letter from your own heart. A letter is better than a fax, a fax better than a phone call, a phone call better than an email. This simple act could be the most important of your life. (White House mail is being processed, albeit slowly, because of the anthrax attacks. But don't let this deter you from writing.)
Write: The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20500
Call or Fax: The White House Switchboard - 202-456-1414, Fax - 202-456-2461
Please Join us in Prevailing Prayer:
--Heavenly Father, SPEAK to our President! Cause men & women of God from across America & from around the world to make an EFFECTIVE APPEAL. May George Bush HEAR Your Voice, LEARN Your Word and DO Your Will. May the U.S. remain immovably loyal to Israel. In Jesus' Name. Amen (1 Kg 22:5, 13; 2 Kg 22:18-19; Es 4:14; Pr 21:1; Is 30:21; Mt 6:10; 1 Cor 15:58).
That sacrifice is Jesus, the Son of God. He paid for my sins, I just that others would open their eyes. Some expect an earthly king, to rule a spiritual kingdom.
Regarding my "overstatement", if you feel that discouraging an individual three times is not sufficient for that label, I can respect that. However, I stand by my statement.
Have a Gut Shabbos.
And a thought from R' Nahman for these difficult times:
"If you believe you can break, believe you can fix!"
I apologize for the misinterpretation. I believe you are correct regarding psychological trauma. The bottom line, I believe, is that Judaism respects life. Consequently, they take a serious view of abortion, and do not regard it as a "right".
As an aside, I have spoken with liberals on this issue indicating that I understood their position that the fetus of a Democrat could not properly be considered a human being. Strangely, they were not overjoyed by my understanding of and agreement with their position.
Why? What merits the belief that G-D was the one who did the "choosing"? What merits the belief that the Jewish people were chosen for something other than obligation?
One more time.
Toilet Duck said: >>>We should abandon Israel and support what is fair and just. If God is merciful and good, he/she would agree.
The "We" that is mentioned is the USA!
BenF said: >>>No, you will abandon Israel to support what is evil and unjust. That is your history and, sadly, your destiny.
The "you" mentioned is the USA and the "your" mentioned is in reference to the USA! In that context, the "history" and "destiny" mentioned is that of the USA!
If you read it carefully bucko, you'll see that BenF definitely had something bigger in mind then Toilet Duck! If BenF misspoke, then an apology was in order.
This is pretty simple stuff bucko, but if you want to make a bigger arse out of yourself, go for it.
Nuff said!
I certainly choose to support the Jews over the crazed Islamic fundamentalists. I now have a understanding of Israel's situation after seeing what kind of wild animals they have to deal with in the muslims.
It is such a shame that liberal Jews do so much harn to Israel (liberals/Democrats). They wouldn't even fight for Israel as I would. They would prefer to let someone else do it. They even wanted to negotiate with the terrorists animals. They don't want a strong defense to protect us from the violent muslims. Again, the liberal Jew is one of Israel's enemy.
Thank G-d you're here!
I used to believe just as you do, and I thought all conservatives and anti-Communists were pro-Israel. Then I joined the Birch Society and learned otherwise!
The ant-semites think that they own the right wing lock, stock, and barrel. They pretend people like you don't exist and that all supporters of Israel are Jewish liberals and "neo-conservatives." You're in for quite a fight here, and you're in the minority.
If you'd like a taste of what you're up against, just take a look at this post here.
G-d bless!
Those who would pervert the Covenant are mankind's enemy, not just the enemy of the Jews.
Because in the USA, you are free to believe what you want to believe. I have no interest in trying to convince you to believe what I believe, and I resent you trying to convince me to believe what you believe. Its just my opinion that youve been conned, but Im not going to waste a lot of time trying to convince you of that.
Because you have no reason whatsoever for your beliefs except that that's what you've always believed?
No, what I believe is not what Ive always believed.
You are doing the same thing Ben is doing. You are jumping to conclusions, you are trying to categorize a lot of people and put them into one preconceived category, and you are trying to label all people who disagree with you as being just alike. But life and the world are not that simple.
What do you think of ultrarightwing Catholics
You mean the kind that want to go back to using Latin in their church services?
Meanwhile FR is full of anti-chr*stian atheists and rationalists who attack Israel (like Seti1 or whatever his name is) who attack the Bible as primitive mythology and you give them a free pass.
I dont give them a free pass. Ive argued with a lot of atheists on this and other message boards. I dont attack Israel. I just like to promote the USA over other countries, and I like to defend against anti-USA attacks by whoever attacks the USA.
You are getting all bent out of shape of perceived conspiracies. Take it easy. Try to relax.
This God as a real estate agent notion is just a nonsense! How can you explain this racist idea?
The idea is not racist. The belief is that the entire world belongs to G-D and He can assign portions of it to various people. You can disagree with this notion, but I would hope that you would respect those who do believe this.
Suppose Bin Laden converted to Jewdism tomorrow; he would become inheratant of that piece of desert thing called cannan, and he will be an Israeli citizen in the same day. This disregards that he is an evil man, or a criminal.
Ah, but what is involved in the conversion? First, that he renounce all his evil ways. Second, that he make recompense. I could go on, but you get the idea. The conversion would have to be sincere and he would have to pay for his crimes before he became an inhabitant of anything other than a jail cell....or perhaps the nether regions.
People from the Soviet Union, who never been to a Jewish temple in their lifes, became citizens, over night just by saying they had Jewish heritage.
The perversion of Jewish law by those who brought these people to Israel is a significant problem. Does perversion of the law by the people who are supposed to uphold it invalidate the entire concept?
This whole Biblical thing is supposed to be simply a history.
That's your opinion. Others disagree....respectfully.
Exactly what you wrote.
Where the Toilet wrote "we", BenF responded with "you".
Maybe bad eyesight is not your only problem.
God chose his people.
Once again your ignorant broad brush generalizations and conclusions are just plain wrong.
Hitler, Stalin, and Mao were all irreligious. Disenfranchising religions may not result in the tolerance you seek. However, if you try to do so, you will definitely upset the religious. Doesn't sound like a situation which will promote tolerance to me. But, good luck with it.
Try looking at the first five books of what you might call the "old" Testament. The people chose first. And so it is with all of us. G-D did not make any choices. All life is precious to Him. It is entirely up to us whether we choose G-D. Sadly, many on this thread have shown they prefer a different choice.
You mean disenfranchise? Well, look, there have been a lot crazy mad-bomber and assassin atheists too. Many of them thought of themselves as philosophers. Nietzsche was just plain nuts and his philosophy has resulted in many murders by crackpots. The Communists, practicing the philosophy of Marxism, were some of the worst killers of the 20th Century. Why dont you go to a nice philosophy board and leave us alone?
