A group of Afghan children collect packets of food aid after an U.S. aircraft completed a night time air drop over a refugee camp in Kumkishlyak in Northern Afghanistan, October 25, 2001. Afghanistan's ruling Taliban on Thursday dismissed as U.S. propaganda a Pentagon statement that they intended to poison food dropped by U.S. aircraft or provided by humanitarian groups to Afghan civilians. The Pentagon said on Wendesday that it had received information the Taliban may poison the food supplies to Afghan civilians and blame the United States. REUTERS/Vasily Fedosenko

And copies of the New Testament of the Bible and copies of the US Constitution.

If we did they would tell us not to drop anymore food packets as unlike Americans they would rather see their kids die than become Christian

THANK YOU WIMPY CAT, it needed to be said.

Just because you live in a tent doesn't mean you are dirty all the time. These people have systems for keeping their lives in order. It just doesn't look like OUR lives. Good grief, some folks just have to hit us all over the head with their self righteousness.

As for whether the kids are starving or not, hunger and starvation are not the same thing. It SEEMS TO ME that the fact they are NOT starving means what we are doing is NOT just "too little, too late" but will actually prevent and alleviate suffering among these kids, who, parents or no parents, have no choices in this situation but to try to survive.

I feel so much better now that I've seen this staged photos.

Interesting. Why did you feel bad about feeding noncombatants before?

I think that is a “male” thing among Islamics. The males in the families tell their wives and kids what to think. Many Islamic males have some kind of “dominance” problem. Generally speaking, we can’t get to the women and children in Islamic countries, because the males block us. But there are lots of widows and orphans in Afghanistan right now. Now is the time to send missionaries into the refugee camps.

A famous photo that brought the plight of the Afghan people to the attention of tree-huggers and armchair bon vivants simply with those eyes.

These kids are in the northern alliance area, they are not controled by the Taliban. The women in the northern area are not required to cover themselves. The people in the northern area do not have it as bad as people in other areas of Afghanistan, but they are still hungry and cannot get food moved in to them unless we supply it by air dropping it. It is getting cold there and they cannot grow their own crops of food to survive over the winter. US reporters cannot get into other areas to photograph other areas without risking their own lives, this is why we are only getting pictures like this.

Unfortunately, she's not kidding. She's been spewing this hatred towards these kids from the beginning on numerous threads.

No I dont hate kids. this is a war..not a social outreach project

Saudi Arabia is a wealty nation ,these are their people..why are not they feeding them?

We are selfish and self centerd people that believes everything has a price..we are trying to "buy their love".

We can not understand principle or devotion..everything here is for sale including our loyalities..these people are not for sale, their lives are worth less to them than their faith..

We are a foolish people

you do not give aid and comfort to the enemy

Always assuming, of course, that they are the enemy. I think the recent history of Afghanistan demonstrates that most Afghanis aren't Taliban -- the Taliban just happen to be on top for the moment in the multi-sided civil war that seems always to be going on there.

The calculus here -- which I think is correct -- is that we can show ourselves as opposed to the Taliban, but not Afghanistan as a country. This cuts off the Taliban's access to the "it's us vs. them, so we've got to stick together" gambit.

What do big eyes have to do with anything? You mean if I eat too much, my eyes will get fat? (BTW, ever notice that ALL kids have large, wide-set eyes? There's a reason kids look like that, ya know). And what does cute have to do with anything? I have yet to see an ugly six year old.

Regarding their bellies, swelling occurs very late in the starvation process and after years of chronic starvation. These kids haven't eaten (more likely, have eaten very little) for days. The kids in Ethiopia hadn't eaten for weeks, they probably had dysenteria, and were about two weeks away from death.

Someone had pictures last week of the soldiers in the fields collecting bags of food. They were competing for the food with the women and children

I'm still trying to figure out what this has to do with anything. I suppose soldiers get hungry, too.

There is no question. The moon god offers no salvation..I would hope they would refuse to call anyname but Christ..

"We are a foolish people"

Yes, you are.

Question - what's the difference between a radical muslim fundamentalist that wants to exterminate all Jews and Christians, and a radical christian fundamentalist that wants to exterminate all Muslims?

Answer - no difference.

Well, their Daddies are dead and their Mommies can't come outside.

That's what I think, too. Except, chances are, their moms are dead, too.

What makes you say that? Most Afghanis outside the occupying Taliban are not arabic -- these aren't Saudi Arabia's "people" any more than they are ours. Afghanistan is a country wrecked by over two decades of near-constant war, and they seriously need continuing humanitarian support to survive. Remember, winter is coming -- just because they may not be showing signs of starvation now doesn't mean they're preapred to handle winter.

Our war is against the Taliban and Al-Queda, not the Afghani people as a whole.

THis is about Islam..not the 'Tallibon' they are simple at the extreme. Look at Israel...do you want to have a permanant war on our land? Unless it sinks in that they (Islam) intend to be the one world religion that we read about...we are doomed to a permanent state of war, just like Israel

They share a religion and gene pool, with Saudi..would you think it more likely that Saudi should do food drops to Canada or us?

The US office of propaganda says the was is with evil people..it is actually a war with Islam..unless we address it as such we will now have terrorism in this nation forever...
