A group of Afghan children collect packets of food aid after an U.S. aircraft completed a night time air drop over a refugee camp in Kumkishlyak in Northern Afghanistan, October 25, 2001. Afghanistan's ruling Taliban on Thursday dismissed as U.S. propaganda a Pentagon statement that they intended to poison food dropped by U.S. aircraft or provided by humanitarian groups to Afghan civilians. The Pentagon said on Wendesday that it had received information the Taliban may poison the food supplies to Afghan civilians and blame the United States. REUTERS/Vasily Fedosenko

You know 30 years ago, the Vietnamese kids ripped my heart out. They would look me in the eye and smile. They were too innocent to fear or hate me.

Looking at these kids, all the memories and emotions and tears come to the surface.

Children, especially hungry children, are helpless.

It is so important to do whatever we can to feed them. They are the next generation and I would much rather hire them in 15 years than have to send my future grandsons over there to fight them.

We fight this like a war,not a Democrat social program

Propaganda is part of every war. They have their propaganda and we have ours. Propaganda is as much a legitimate weapon of war as tanks and bombs, and more effective in many ways.

Interesting that this ONE child looks like a dead baby (perhaps from medical causes..as a child that age in that culture would still be breast fed) while all the others look like my neighborhood kids.

Looks like the children know how to handle peanutbutter and jelly sandwishes. They are the ones that should get the bulk of the aid anyhow. I say we should quit being so critical. How many of us would do any better?

"Bring those kids over here. We'll find homes for them."

We have room in our house...and a nice backyard too!

He isnt talking about the eating it..My son loves shrimp..but it could kill him.

The issue isnt do they like it? Will they eat it? It is can they digest it? If they really were interested rice was probably the best choice

but it makes us "feel good"

Even if I accept your implication that that's an undesirable thing, it is still right to feed the refugees.

I'd adopt one in an minute. My husband might not like the idea, but I think these are beautiful children. Bet they'd like enough their bellies full at night, warm showers and a school which welcomes girls.

You have my hearfelt appreciation for your kindness and humanity!

As far as them being "cute", In my opinion many of the Afghanistan people have a unique beauty to them.

I've noticed that too. Up to the age of about 14 or so these Central Asian people are hauntingly beautiful. Then the harshness of life catches up with a vengeance; by the time they're 30 they look like an American 60-year-old. If they're alive at all, I mean.

Oh, it absolutely is! Total propoganda to fool the American people into doing such horrific "feel good" activities like feeding kids.

Saudi Arabia is a wealty nation, these are their people..why are not they feeding them?

These people are Afghans, NOT Saudis. They have lived in strife for 30 years.

They, (the women and kids), deserve our compassion.

Critical think this, oh great strategist. Would you rather have the indigenous people on your side as you fight in their country or would you rather have them all shooting at you, like the Russians did in Afganistan? I certainly hope you are not in a position of any authority.
