It was reported today that the Squaw Peak Hiking Trails org. has issued a warning to it's members to stay away from the popular trails on Squaw Peak in North Central Phoenix after several sightings of mideastern men with " HEAVY ORANGE BACKPACKS" were sited at all hours, including at 4:30 a.m. hiking on and around the mountain! Local F.B.I. says there is no cause for alarm, as has local law enforcment!
The West side of the city is inhabited by rich people. They have expensive cars, buildings, centers of commerce, communication towers, transportation systems, energy and water treatment plants.
The East side of the city is filled with very poor people living in cardboard and mud. Surprisingly, most people in the East do not aspire to be Westerners despite the obvious advantages. Rather, these Easterners despise the West, and wish, and plot, for its demise.
One September day, the West is brutally ambushed by a faction of the East whose leaders particularly hate the West. The West moves to arrest and/or kill the leaders of this one group. But people in the East are angry that the West would dare attack anyone from the East, irrespective of the guilt of the party responsible, and begin to bristle at the Western actions.
As the days pass, one Eastern faction after another calls for the end of the attacks, and violent protests erupt into riot. Some Easterners rush to join their colleagues to defy the invading Westerners.
The tensions slowly mount.
The West is inhabited by a majority of people who believe that Easterners need only be welcomed with open arms to appease them. From their comfortable perspective, they believe the world to be as rational and civil as the West. As as a result, Easterners are permitted to walk freely among them. Indeed, laws are made to prevent any discrimination between Westerners and Easterners.
As the war erupts, the West is caught off-guard by one terrorist act after another. These atrocities are conducted by seemingly friendly Easterners who live among them, but whose allegiance is firmly with the East. Still, nothing is done to prevent the free passage of Easterners within the Western regions.
The openness and civility of the West begins to prove its downfall. On the other hand, in the East, a Westerner is easily identified. This, and the lack of an infrastructure prevent effective retaliation. The enemy is not easily separated from civilians.
As one internal attack after another bombards the West, now from many different Eastern factions, the West continues stubbornly to provide a safe harbor for Easterners among them.
Question:
How do we in the West expect to 'win' this war?
Does anyone see where this is going? Anyone at all?

After I read the two news articles, I realised you even offering to go to the mountains is heroism! I'd do it if it were in Chicago
Shoot, I was part of a CB Patrol for years and in a gang infested area of the worse gangs in the city. It was a whole new form of terrorism, we were chased with them running after our cars with weapons, just for being the 'eyes' of the community. It was even worse when we'd make court appearances as witnesses against them. but we did.
I liken your cause to this, your volunteering and/or actually going, well buddy....

And thanks for the clarification. I am neither a raghead or a HE. I'm a crazy irish woman who's lived in this desert when the only national Sports event that made the papers, was when Kerr Sporting Goods won some kind of world series, you baseball fans should know what league that was.
