Maybe you should take up NASCAR or beer rather than collecting "hardcore".

Are you having fun with this?

NASCAR is auto racing's equivalent to WWF. Toilet bowl racing. I like beer just fine thanks. I'll have to borrow some of your hardcore since I don't need it for my jollies, I can get the 'real thing' just fine thanks.

Do you want me to see if I can get Mike Moran to send you pictures of his dead brother's corpse?

Whatever 'blows your dress up'. If it is relevant, send it.

This is the last time I'm going to reply to your comments.

Maybe you should change your screen name to something like Threadkiller's since that seems like your intent.

Buh-bye.

I can't imagine why anyone would want a picture of a splattered body except to offend
someone and gloat over the reaction. A cyber flasher.

Photographs of trash cans full of limbs amputated as a result of the attack on Pearl Harbor
were kept out of the press. It probably was a good idea as such a sight might have
let to mass lyncing of innocent Japanese-Americans.

And prohibitions on some of the worst photos of WTC/Pentagon is wise for a period
of time as well.
BUT...the moral equivalency and radical pacifism crowd needs may need to see these things
(on a limited basis) when they start to scream "no more war" when the USA loses
oh, say, 10 or 20 soldiers on the ground in Afghanistan.

Then they (and the rest of the country) should be reminded what carnage was visited
on over five thousand innocents...and that sacrifices have to be made to prevent it
from happening again.

I'm not for gore. I'm for making sure people just don't forget the reality of what happened.
And that anyone trying to warp the truth is hit in the face with the real image.

That's all I'm about, but some on this thread want to paint me as some morbid freak. I can't even look at most of those images without crying. My intention is not to shove this stuff in everyone's face, but it needs to be recorded somewhere so it doesn't get 'sanitized'. Thanks.

Early on, the NYC news showed a man hanging outside of his window, waving his jacket for help and then they cut it, implying that he jumped/fell. From the numbers I've heard, hundreds must have jumped or fallen. The phrase that sticks with me the most, used by a person who fled the towers, was "piles of blood". Blood normally doesn't sit in piles.

I remember that video of the person on a top floor waving a jacket, signaling for help.

It's possible that not everyone on the floors that the planes hit was immediately killed. There were internal partitions on the floors, right? So, someone on a farside of the building from where the plane impacted might not have been engulfed in the fireball, but would have had to face advancing flames and smoke.

The fire also worked its way upward. So, the choice the trapped people had was the worst possible one: Stay and die from the fire and smoke, or jump and die from the fall.

We do need to see the graphic pictures, and not let this be a "sanitized" event like so much of history has been "sanitized for our protection." Not that we need to be ghoulish about it, either, but much of the true horror of that day has been smoothed over. And sadly, much of the raw video that went out live is now gone or no longer available.

I should have fired up my VCR when this happened, but didn't think to do that until hours later. Like many, I sat before the TV, transfixed in horror at what I did see.

I don't understand how a picture of a trash can full of amputated limbs will help me to remember Pearl Harbor. I doubt I would even connect them. I don't see how a picture of someone's loved one splattered on the ground will make me say "Gosh, that was bad after all". I can see the film of the WTC collapsing and say that. I don't need a string of intestines to add anything to the scene. And I don't understand the necessity or fascination with collecting said images.

When I worked for EMS, there were a group of guys that would drive around listening to scanners. They would show up at bad wrecks and take pictures. I remember them being elated because there was a woman's breast lying on the road. I'm sure they justified the behavior somehow but I don't know how.

I don't need a picture of naked women to convince me the Holocaust was bad.

If you identified VOA (me) with that crowd, you've made an improper identification.
I suspect the same is true of "Looking4Truth".

I don't need a picture of naked women to convince me the Holocaust was bad.

You don't, I don't, and probably 99% of the people in this forum don't.
But the vast mass of the sheeple might need to visit these unsettling images again.
When the voices and seduction by the moral equivalency and radical pacificism crowd
tries to take hold.
I'm not for gratuitous display of these images. Only as educational tools and to
shut up anyone attempting to say "It wasn't so bad" or "It didn't really happen that way".

Pappy. Think about it for a minute.
I haven't had the slightest desire to see that type of photo, but still am infuriated that government and/or the media have relieved me of ever having to make that choice.
They have made it for me.

I agree that their motivation is the worst possible.
To keep the level of American outrage as low as possible.
For what specific purpose I haven't guessed.

However, they feel free to let me see similar photos of Dead Afghan "babies"...

Incensed does not begin to describe it!

My point was that it won't help. Anyone who would "it wasn't that bad" when referring to the WTC or the Holocaust will not be swayed by a bunch of gory photos. The purpose of gore is to titilate or persuade someone against a manner of behavior (like the old drivers ed movies).

Where do we see the vast amount of gore? The entertainment industry.

I'm not arguing for censorship. You can collect it if you want. I'm arguing for good taste. I would not want someone using a picture of my mangled child to make some "point". It's sick. It's my opinion and I'm allowed to voice it. I'm sure every fireman and policeman at the scene agrees they don't want their fallen comrades treated that way.

Actually my father was a WWII veteran and personally recounted the story of his company (1390th Combat Engineers attached to the US 9th Armored Division) being ordered to Dachau to witness the slaughter perpetrated by the SS and their civilian employees. Other US Army divisions were sent to this and other camps as both witnesses to the fact that this really happened, and to show the US fighting man exactly what he was fighting to defeat. That's the purpose of what I said.

I recall hearing the first day that 911 operators were recieving calls from people trapped after the WTC towers collapsed. I have figured that part of the story has been suppressed as well...

No, it hasn't been. Read this article

From the article:All calls from the south tower suddenly ceased with a notation. CALL DISCONNECTED

After the other tower went down:

10:33:42 ENTIRE TOWER DOWN The calls from the second tower ceased with another rumbling roar.

It appears that after each tower collapsed: 1) cell phones were unable to work in the vicinity, and/or 2) all the people were dead in each building. As very few people (I think the number I heard was five) were rescued alive from the buildings after they collapsed, I suspect it is a combination of both.

Good taste. That comes with interior decorating and such.

I would not want someone using a picture of my mangled child to make some "point". It's sick.

Totally off the mark. And BTW, I've known most of you volunteer EMT types. Couldn't be military, couldn't be cops, couldn't be paid fireman, so you ride around in your little civilian cars acting important with your little lights in the dashboard like you're some kind of 'Batman' or something.

It's my opinion and I'm allowed to voice it. You go for it, I'll defend your right to.

I'm sure every fireman and policeman at the scene agrees they don't want their fallen comrades treated that way.

OK genius where did you pick up by my comments that I wanted to capitalize on the tragedy in those folks lives.

Typical Roanoker. Lamers in a lame town. 73 posted on 10/23/01 12:35 PM Pacific by AppyPappy

Oh, BTY Appy, I've never been the kind that takes photos of tragedic situations for my F****n scrapbook!

I had to pick up airplane and body parts while I was in the Air Force at a pilot training base in Mississippi. AND I DAMN SURE DIDN"T GET OFF ON IT.

If you would bother to not only read but understand my original post, you would see what I am talking about.

Which part of Big Media do you work for, you effen censor you?
