This must be historic. I'm not sure the polls even picked up on the 1994 landslide. 2002 could be a big year for the GOP.

Also in Zogby's 10-16-01 Poll, 94% of the respondents rated Bush's job approval as either excellent, good, or fair-- only 4% think he's doing a poor job.

I suppose the lie machine will soon start sputtering to life to save McAuliffe's job as hand picked king of the Dems.

Given that Republicans are more reliable voters than Democrats, this is even better news than it appears to be.

Well, this is within the margin of error. However, if Republicans and Democrats are polling equally, that means the Republicans are likely to maintain or even add to their majority. This is because there are many districts in which 90% of the people vote for the Democrat, but there aren't as many Republican districts that are so overwhelming.

In the inner cities, many Democrats routinely get 90%+, even with an opponent. But of course, once you go beyond 50%, votes don't matter.

This type poll at this point in time is meaningless. If this was Oct 2002, it would be somewhat meaningful. But, it still comes down to winning individual races.

There's a lot of time yet to go, and you can believe that the media aristocrats and the Democrats are meeting in back rooms all over the place figuring out how they can stab America in the back and blame it on Bush.

Bush has proven to be remarkably able to go over the heads of the media and appeal to the people; but I wouldn't count any chickens yet.

What's depressing is how close all three are. No shortage of deluded idiots still roaming the streets. I saw C-SPAN the night Nancy Pelosi was elected demonwhip: I about gagged on all the rhetoric about taking back the house next year. The wimps don't even have enough calcium in their spinal column to declare war after the attack we suffered, and they are publically celebrating their nasty partisianship while the ruins still smolder. I'm ashamed that my country keeps so many like them in power.

Used to be true, but not any more. Dems get their base out now. They are very well organized.

The election is still a long ways off. Let's see if it lasts.

Twenty years ago the nation's congressional districts were Gerrymandered for Democrcats. Reagan could win a big one in 1984 and not carry the house.

Today the Gerrymander is on the Republican side. That was the key in 1994. The re-districting in 1991 did not show up in 1992 because of the economy and Bush Sr's poor campaign. But by 1994 with the Hillary health care debakle it was big time apparent.

Remember there had been 1 point republican leads many times since 1948. But the democrat Gerrymandering always let the Demorats hold the house. In 1992 the Gerrymandering went the otherway. NOw in 2002 it is even more Gerrymandered in the Republicans favor. When things are dead even in the nation the Republicans will still win the house. When the numbers favor the Republicans they win big time.

If this war is won and the economy turned around by 2002 it will be a big win. In any event the economy will not be bad in 2004. Bush with this war behind him will be a shoe in.

In 2004 they may let Gore run again. Democrats will need a lamb to sacrefice. Gore is not a lamb. But a goat will have to do in a pinch.

This poll is from registered voters nationwide, not most likely voters.

Add about 5-10% to reflect actual poll numbers

Totally agree with you. It is utterly depressing how many people still do not understand how the socialists have undermined our freedoms and security. These polls should show overwhelming preferences for Republicans if there was an iota of intelligence left in this nation.

I gave up on polls for the most part after 2000.

They give a general range, and that's it.

Everything depends on turnout, and that favored DEMS(ie blacks and unions) in 2000.

It all depends on open seats, retirements, incumbent strength, and LOCATIONS.

Well, they are all conditioned by liberal education and a liberal dominant media. I used to be a democrat. But I left in the early 90s. Freegards....

I don't know about that...some of those minority precincts "voted" at 110%. Pretty good trick, don't 'cha think?

YeeeeeeHahhhhhhh! It's not a tremendous lead, but we should take any, usually the Demonrats have us beat with all their Clintonian Spin....no wonder Puff Anthrax Daschle was doing a little hypocritical speech today...."They won't approve money for this, they are spending the surplus." (I'm paraphrasing) A man who is dead from the neck up!

To add further to the polls the mainstream media will never report (taken from Newsmax.com): A Zogby International poll released Monday afternoon shows that Americans prefer to have President Bush leading them through the current terrorist crisis over ex-president Clinton by a landslide margin of 72 percent to 20 percent No surprises at this end!

Well..it's VERY close. Lots will depend on how the war goes. How the economy goes. Bush better get Bin Laden by then - or folks will be restless. I suspect we will get him soon though. I KNOW Reno will fail, that one I know.

This is true. Moreover, only the Dems know how to raise the dead every two years to vote.
