My 31 year-old son converted to Islam when he was stationed in Germany with the Army. He fought in the Gulf War against Saddam Hussein.
I feel helpless as I listen and watch him praise the attacks against our nation.
It's like my son is being set up to take kool-ade, ala Jim Jones.
Plus, he's also my newest partner in a family business.
ONE thing I thought Muslims had down was working hard to support oneself, but in DC and even Ann Arbor, I saw Muslims(in the white robes!) begging for money or selling incense(same thing.)
So sorry to hear this horrible news. You are NOT helpless! Maybe this is a really good time to sever those family ties. Sometimes God gives you a strong dose of reality and it really tests you. I think this is that test.
Believe me, I know it's tough.....I had to do it to my son.....my only child. It was for a totally different reason but it had to be done. God hit me with a stiff dose of reality, and I made a tough decision. My life is much clearer now.

Yikes!! What is it -- that is going on over there in Germany? Of course, those of us who read this cannot know all the circumstances behind it. Perhaps you don't know all either, but I'm sure you know a lot of what led up to it (being that you're closer to the situation).

Without the proper foundation and basis for our belief, we are all helpless. That's because, on the basis of "our own authority" one type of belief is just as good as the next. It depends on what "values" you place on them, as to what you want, versus the next person. That's the basis for this "multi-culturalism". The problem is -- that it all ends up in either chaos or dictatorship (in the long run).
So, with that kind of foundation we would all be helpless and without hope to defend our "way of life" and do so legitimately (short of power and/or force).
THE GOOD NEWS, however -- is that it is not hopeless. That's the answer that has been given to us in the Bible (from the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob). And HERE is where you can challenge your son -- on the basis of facts and truth and justice (as compared to Islam).
It's one thing to bring up the "negatives" about someone or something else (and they may all be true) -- but it's quite another thing to give a legitimate alternative to those negatives. The "negatives alone" (i.e., all the stuff that we can show and bring up about Islam) won't quite do it -- by itself.
IT REQUIRES AN ALTERNATIVE, which contains "truth and power". And that alternative is what has been given to us by the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (the God of the Jews and the Christians, both).
The Word of God (that is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob -- and don't forget that...) in the Bible, is based and founded in actual history and is verifiable and has the "ring of truth" -- and speaks to everyone personally.
THIS IS YOUR ONLY HOPE. There is no other hope.
God, Himself has issued a challege, saying that there is no other God like Him. He says He is the only one. He says He will prove it in the end (and has proven it many times in the past). He continually proves it today, with us all.
The "god" that the Islamics have is called Allah -- but is actually another name for Satan (no kidding here, and this is no hyperbole or exaggeration). Allah has the same characteristics as Satan in the Bible.
And Satan is a real and created being. He wasn't created that way in the beginning, but turned that way (from what God tells us in the Bible). He is a liar (encourages lying and deceit), he is a destroyer, he is filled with hate, he is a murderer. AND he is the accuser and the persecutor of the faithful (of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob). He seeks to destroy both (the Jews and the Christians). We see Islam stating that it will destroy both -- the Jews first and then the Christians. Allah encourages the destruction of the Jews, something that Satan has been trying to do for centuries.
So your only hope is to issue the challenge as to who is the true God -- the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob -- or -- the [false] god of Allah [the liar, accuser, destroyer and persecutor of Jews and Christians alike]. In other words, issue the challenge to those in Islam to "prove their god, Allah -- over and against the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And they are not one and the same.
Any honest person -- who is truly seeking God -- will be able to have proven to them, that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is the true God (and has shown Himself to be so over the centuries) -- versus the false god of Allah, aka Satan, the deceiver and destroyer. Others who go after the "destroyer" are deceived and headed for destruction, themselves.
If you hope to get your son back -- this is the only way. There is no other way. God will help. Believe in Him and His Son, who gives Salvation freely to all who come to Him [... find the "basis" for your Salvation].

This may take time. It depends upon one being right with God, themselves -- first things first. Then all else comes. And things come in God's own time, and not yours. So, you should begin with yourself, and then proceed from there, while -- also -- "waiting upon the Lord" in all that you do.

This post is very informative...If Christians were forced to chose between being an American citizen and a Christian, Christianity would prevail...I know that's true for me...
However, Christians have a different view about people they disagree with...
I suspect this fella's views are representative of most Muslims within the U.S. whether they are foreign or domestic...I would guess that if some Islame Cleric puts the word out, there will be thousands and thousands of terrorist in the U.S...They are already here...Like your son, they live here...An organization like the "French Underground" during WWII...
A lot of them will kill you and me and the rest will help them by hiding them and procuring the necessary weapons...Not looking good from where I sit...
I'm convinced George Bush should load up all those troops in Afghanistan and get them back home, pronto...This is where the terrorists are...
