If you have a baby on the way, bought a new car or house, found out your kid aced his SAT, are having a good harvest, caught an excellent fish, or have some other happy news please post it. I am so depressed and sad for my country, and I don't know ANYONE in person who has had anything nice happen in the last month. Not one person.

I lost 14 pounds! I am so proud of myself. I still have a ways to go until I meet my goal, but I have faith I will get there!

My dad survived three. I have to admit though, he did start listening a lot closer to his doctor's advice after number three.

My first grandchild.. a precious little boy was born on Sept. 15th. Oh, how my daughter worried that he would be born on the 11th.I know what you mean. Sep 11, 2001 was my 50th birthday... I'm not much on celebrating birthdays anyway at this age, but it really put a damper on things.
But happy news... I finally got the front yard edged after ignoring it for 3 weeks while remodeling the kitchen. Maybe now the neighbors will smile at me.

Yes, that. Yes, thanks.
I'm going to go study and/or hang out with missionaries who are coming to teach my son his 4th pre-baptismal lesson. How ungrateful of me not to think of that. My son will probably be baptised this month. We stop noticing the good news that is around us all the time, don't we?

----well, we got our winter rye annual seed in, it's all coming up the happiest brightest green. I love how it stays alive in the winter, that and the pansies and mums we put in. Also got three solid days of rain through the weekend forecast, it should really grab and take off. I love keeping stuff alive in the winter! We'll be covering our two home made greenhouses soon, try to keep some tomatoes and greens as long as christmas day. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes it gets down to some really hardy lettuce and maybe some kale, and some brussells sprouts etc, but there's always something garden fresh, 365! Fresh crisp garden chow, most excellent! I was thinking about some venison, but the freezers are slap full, so we'll be content with an occassional cottontail most likely this winter.

My mom started having problems in the early 90's with her memory and black-outs. Then she got very paranoid and wouldn't stay by herself. (She used to be very independent). Then she lost interest in the things she was most passionate about and there was a vacant, empty look in her eyes. Finally, by last November she couldn't take care of her personal hygiene or even carry on a decent conversation. Her doctor wrote her off as an Alzheimer's case and told us to have her make up a will before she got even worse. Finally, we changed doctors. It took awhile, but she was referred to a neurologist and we learned that she didn't have Alzheimer's after all - she was having epileptic seizures. She was put on special medication in November. The seizures stopped and finally, in January, she started to snap out of it. She will never be back to where she was before, but she has her sense of humor back, she can carry on a conversation, and she is no longer afraid to stay by herself and she is back to being very picky about her hygiene (thank goodness!) She's 75 and back to being the feisty, stubborn woman we missed!

We have babies in the barnyard. While waiting for our "very" pregnant goat to have her babies, we were thrilled to discover that one of yard chickens had managed to successfully hatch 5 little "mcnuggets".
We are truly blessed because the hen had decided the spot behind the dogs bed in the barn was a perfect spot to "sit" on her eggs. So far, Brown Dog is not sure whether is the father or the winner of a fast food snack. But, they look so cute together....Maybe I will post pictures this weekend if anyone wants to see them.

Today at 11:00 AM, PDT almost all of the students in our local school district vowed "The Pledge of Allegiance." ...At the same time, k-zillions of students, "...from sea to shining sea" were doing the same.
It did my heart good.
Brought to mind Dr. Suess' Horton Hears a Who--only BETTER!.
