The last paragraph of the linked article.
The Senate approved an amendment offered by Sen. John Breaux (news - bio - voting record), D-La., to study the use by flight crews of nonlethal weapons to disable would-be hijackers. Senators also passed by voice an amendment by Sen. Bob Smith, R-N.H., that authorizes the Federal Aviation Administration (news - web sites) to permit pilots to carry guns. Under the measure, airlines and pilots would make the decision whether to put weapons in the cockpit.
The FAA is part of the executive branch, and thus reports to the president. All it would take is an order from Bush, and they would have to issue the OK.
The Democrat wants the Senate to authorize a study on the use of non-lethal weapons.
The Republican wants the Senate to authorize the use of (Constitutionally-mentioned) guns.
Which method do YOU think would do the most good? A study? Or actual physical protection?
This was a "voice" vote, not one Senator voted "officially" yes or no.
I actually can't believe that this was voted on by the "voice" of the Senate. You would think that Schumer, Hillary, or another democrat would have asked for a recorded vote.
In the past 4 weeks I've read somewhere something along these lines...that someone in the pilots union found out that FAA has been authorized to permit pilots to carry firearms all along....however, all the pilots that were asked said they had never heard that before. Apparently the FAA didn't WANT the pilots to be armed. Help, somebody!! Was that posted on FR or did I read that elsewhere?
I can see the "This Cockpit Protected by Glock" stickers now.
I can hear the liberal shreiks of terror!!!
Interstate commerce? I think this one actually makes sense. Especially from the public safety angle.
Can't you just see it...you drive by Roselawn Mental Hospital and there's a "NO VACANCY" sign out front. You walk around the grounds and see Hillery and Teddy in straight jackets, her blubbering about "the children", and him begging , "Just a beer!....Just a beer...Hell, a beer's not drinking". Then there will be the bearded lil' Albert walking around in a trance like, drugged up state mumbling, over and over again, "but what about Dingle/Norwood?"
We'll sharpen our teeth on these cowardly terrorist bastards and after that's over we'll start, peacefully, at the ballot box, taking out the terrorists within. Beware commies in the gov.......you're next! I think they are beginning to see it. Prison for the above mentioned traitors is also a viable option. That's a good picture too.
