Wow. That's the first time I've ever agreed with Sen. Feinstein. I've been saying that the Coast Guard would be a natural fit for airport security. They already handle other entry points-- maritime ports and border guards-- and they already have the infrastructure in place to work with customs, immigration, etc. It seems like a good idea to me. I'm not for expanding federal government, but national defense is a different matter.

BTW, I agree that the Coast Guard should have a role in professional airport security (running airport checkpoints, security machines, etc.) I don't agree that the National Guard should be used on more than a temporary basis.
