I didn't think any signs of it was found at the dead man's home. So wouldn't that dispute the fact that he had picked it up naturally?

Does anyone know where he was in North Carolina, and what he was doing there?

That's interesting especially since he was near 2 universities. maybe he was trying to make his own vaccines.

It's quite possible the official brought the tubes with him to put samples in.

When you are testing an area, you use sterile swabs (they're like Q-tips). You place the swabs immediately in a tube of culture medium (nutrients that will allow the bacteria to grow and reproduce, [the bigger the colony, the more tests you can perform] so you can identify it). You label the tubes, as to where and what you swabbed, then you bag them, and take to the lab.
