WOIO News in Cleveland just reported that concourses C & D at Cleveland's Hopkins Airport have been shutdwon.
Som security violation involing a plane from Orlando FL to Cleveland is involoved.
A news conference is planned, stay tuned.
I just report; people can decide for themselves....
I missed that report.
I was raised in a town nearby, not Youngstown proper, but still have family there. Have you gone back lately? For me it's still weird to see the steel mills idle. Nice to see the cleaner air, but it's still sad for me that the steel industry is gone.
I'm not talking about you personally, I'm talking about the airport closure itself, and other similar events. Won't people start getting used to the false alarms (think "The Boy who Cried Wolf?"). Notice how casually people take fire alarms, even when they don't know for sure it's a drill? I think this is because people are used to them NEVER being legitimate. I worry that the same thing will happen to our society. We'll see someone put a bag down in an airport, and decide against reporting it, because the last 50 times that happened, it closed the airport for six hours for no reason.
If we respond to these rumors, threats, and suspicious activities discreetly, then people won't be afraid to report suspicious activity to the authorities. I think closing the airport was unwarranted. The next incident may be genuine, but airport officials will be afraid to close down because they got burned before. It's not unlike what happened with the space shuttle Challenger. They had so many delays in the launch, and hence so much pressure to launch, that they ignored a very real threat to the safety of the mission.
Dubya, gotta go eat. Be back later to see what's developed. Thanks for the ping!
what the hell happened to that guy? ...haven't heard his name in ages.
Can't give you a link. I think it was on the "scroll" on one of the cable news stations. I remember I "expletive deleted" when I saw it.
I've been through Hopkins too many times. Although getting through the airport isn't bad, that pickup area stinks. Way too busy, at least in August when I was last there. Now, Chattanooga, that's a great airport.
Look at trip.com's website and follow their simple instructions to locate and track current flights enroute.
It's pretty neat, and gives a view of what is actually going on.
Just talked to my brother and sister-in-law, who went to the Charlotte race today. They said there were helicopters flying overhead all day at the race and they were told the helicopters were there for protection. They said that the Afghanistan attack was announced over the loud speakers just prior to the start of the race, and that everyone was standing up, cheering, shouting "USA, USA".
