It is outrageous and absurd that terrorists with plastic knives and box cutters could hijack airliners, allowing nearly 6000 people to perish. The large majority of those lives could have been saved if our weak-kneed politicians would apply the simple, straight forward principle of the 2nd Amendment, as testified to by our Founding Fathers: Thomas Jefferson- "No free man shall ever be debarred of the use of arms." George Washington: "Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the people's liberty's teeth." John Adams: "Every private person is authorized to arm himself." George Mason: "To disarm the people is the best way to enslave them." Thomas Jefferson- "...it is their [the people's] right and duty to be at all times armed." Even a modern liberal agrees. Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey- "Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government...is the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms..." We don't need to spend millions to hire government employees to protect us. We have the right and obligation to protect ourselves. Ben Thompson 1326 S.
