WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush authorized on Friday a payment on the United States' back dues to the United Nations, and said he hopes the money will enhance America's "close bond" with the international body.

Bush signed a Senate bill authorizing the second of three payments of the arrears. Bush said the payment fulfills the commitment he made to U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan in March.

The basic meaning of "puzzle" is related to a matter of trying to put the pieces together to complete some kind of overall picture, right?

Well, it seems as though some people had an idea of what the picture should be showing BEFORE they cut up the pieces to have us try to put it back together...they not only knew the outcome (picture) but they also prearranged its composition.

Pieces=the following:

Last Sept., 2000 we saw the UN attempt to see the Charter for Global Democracy accepted...it was without a vote; it was passed by acclamation, which is a far different kind of "consent."

The UN pushed for acceptance of the ICC. Many understood this ploy and resisted it.

The U.S. did not pay its past dues to the UN. Many in Congress wanted to see more positive work on the part of the UN before any such payment to see the money frittered away without better, visible work toward the purported end of maintaining the "peace," which is not exactly a goal that has been met by the UN.

Then came the attack on America. Things changed. Security seemed evident, but many still said we should not panic to take away freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution and give more power to the very agencies that have resulted in governmental problems...the greed for power emerged over protecting individual freedoms.

Poll on Saturday night, announced on FoxNews, said that 65% of Americans are "willing" to give up freedom to have security.

What was an attack on the U.S. on U.S. soil deserves singular action of the U.S. to seek its own avenue of justice; instead the "attack on America" seemed to require the building of a coalition among nation states. Thus, we again find Koffi Annan of the UN suggesting that the UN can take measures to control the situation.

The pieces fall into place...security at the cost of freedoms; the shift from an American form of justice to U.S. consent to have the UN family of nations dole out justice.

All this destroys our forms of reluctance to accept UN action...The UN mouths plans to control the problem; they win legitimacy of doing it via UN methods; and, if we want a coalition, then surely we can't expect the UN to act unless we "pay up" our dues and be a good partner in the family of nations.

End result as the pieces come together...the case is made that our problems cannot be resolved unless we have a world government do it for us. And, when it comes to freedoms guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, freedoms for which millions in the past have fought and died, well, the lack of understanding of what those freedoms are in our Constitution seems for many an easy form of adjustment...just give up any concern for the U.S. Constitution that our leaders have in the past all took an oath to "support."

Get the picture? The pieces are coming together, and I don't like the picture of world government over what we had when we directed our own state of affairs as a sovereign nation. Once sovereignty as a nation-state is shown to be other than feasible, unworkable they say, the role of our government moves from independence, to interdependence, to dependence...dependence on other people in the UN setting the measure of our freedoms, our destiny, our future.

Saturday night another piece was put into place when FoxNews announced that Bush has signed the bill to have us pay the UN "past dues" they claim we owe. I guess we can't expect UN help if we can't pay our dues.

Why, pray, are we a member of this UN club? That is the question. What is your answer?

The UN treaty destroys all of our civil liberties, and constitutional rights. It's all about submission, and death. The one world, one government people seem to think that one country's liberties, are all countries liberties. Take Afghanistan for instance. If they were the ones running the UN, all women would be submissive, and covered head to toe.

The UN has but one agenda, wiping out freedom at all costs, and enslaving everyone. If you think taxes are bad here in America, imagine taking on Ethiopia, Somalia, Ghana, Morocco, Algiers, Czechoslovakia, Afghanistan, as additional welfare states. I'm serious, look at the work these people are trying to do, and where the money is really going. It's not about freedom, it's global communism and the redistribution of America's wealth.

To be honest, I believe in humanitarian aid, but when these things are stolen by the people in power of the country you're trying to help, it sours me on it. When the money, and the food don't go to the needy, I have issues with doing it at all. What needs to happen in our country is for everyone to start paying their own taxes, instead of having it deducted automatically. Then they can actually see their money going away. Better yet, an itemized tax return, so you can decide where your money goes. 5 bucks to endowment for the arts, 10 bucks to defense, 20 bucks to social security, etc.... It would make more sense, than letting some idiot tell you, give me your money, and I'll flush it where I want to.

I feel like the terrorists have been splitting me open with box cutters the past month since Bush started giving it all away.

And for all of you who said Bush was better than Gore? Bwahahahahah!!! Look, it's inevitable that the Dems will eventually regain control. So we are just prolonging the inevitable.

Bush proves that when a politician is given the green light to spend YOUR money faster than the fedreserve can print it, they will. And there's not a damn thing any one can do to stop it.

And for all of you who said Bush was better than Gore? Bwahahahahah!!! Look, it's inevitable that the Dems will eventually regain control. So we are just prolonging the inevitable.

That's it. Stick a fork in my butt I'm done.

Welcome to Hillary's village. Don't get in the showers, those are NOT showers.

I do believe you are right. The sheeple won't know what hit them. Some of them will be marched in insisting "But Bush doesn't know-it's the Clinton hold-overs"...

There should be absolutely no Clinton holdovers. These agencies don't need a political hack at the head to function. They will continue to work their evil with or without an anointed "leader".

I'm in total agreement with you. I was just pointing out that we have a shell game being perpetuated on the gullible by the one-party system.

Congress stages a "fight" over appointments so Bush "can't get" his appointments in. Then when he advances his agenda, the gullible say that the dems have his ear and are giving him bad advice. It doesn't occur to them that he knew their views to start with. They were chosen to give him political cover so the gullible would blame them instead of him for the decisions he makes. IOW, Powell isn't giving Bush bad advice. Powell is taking the flack for Bush's unpopular decisions.

"You people have more hope than sense."

I'm not sure what you mean by 'you people', but whatever you do mean I'm probably not one of 'them'.

I only agreed that the motivation to fork over millions was to ultimately save many times that in military costs and maybe American lives by gaining cooperation that otherwise wouldn't be there. And I expressed my hope that the expected payoff will be realized.

While I don't know everything, I'm not ignorant of what the UN is really about or where the NWO folks want to take us.

re: post #38

Thanks for the link - very scary indeed. I didn't read the entire article yet, but I will.

Over the summer I participated in a protest in NYC when the NWO people were meeting to advance their cause once again. But that had more to do with the 2nd Ammendment and other domestic issues than military. I had no idea of the things this article talks about. Unbelievable is an understatement. This is an outrage - very, very disturbing.

More of that coalition-building stuff. Anyone else get nervous about us asking permission to defend ourselves against terrorism?

These kind of rhetorical questions go over the heads of most here. Please refrain from futher inflammatory posts until after Ramadan. Thank you. ;-)

"...What you are proposing falls into the wont catagory."

D Joyce, I wasn't proposing anything at all. I didn't even render an opinion on it. I only speculated on the motivation as to why it was done at this particular time. And since it's a done deal, I'm hoping we realize the expected benefits.

Please - you're reading too much into what I said.

Does it really freakin' matter whether we have Bush now and some Goron later?

The only difference between 'W'orld Order Bush jr. and some bleeding Dem is the schedule.

If Dubya gets any more compassionate we'll all be on the fedgov dole....

I don't think there are too many special interests left that he doesn't want to bail out.

Face it, more of the same big govt crap only now they are using a criminal act to subvert more liberties, rights and justifying unlimited spending.
