Greyhound Bus stopped after bomb threat call-in The bomb squad of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office is searching a Greyhound bus after the South Carolina Highway Patrol stopped the bus on an exit ramp at Highway 129 and Interstate 85 in Spartanburg County. Troopers stopped Greyhound Bus Number 2746 after an anonymous telephoned bomb threat was received at a Greyhound terminal in Atlanta this afternoon.

The bus was stopped in Spartanburg County shortly after 5:00 p.m. Troopers removed the passengers from the bus one-by-one. The passengers put their hands over their heads and were patted down by troopers, then each passenger walked to an area a safe distance from the bus. Some troopers took cover behind their patrol cruisers with their shotguns pointed at the passengers as they were searched.

Two technicians from the bomb squad of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office suited up in protective gear, then searched the bus and removed luggage from the underneath compartments of the bus. At this hour (7:50 pm), the bus is still stopped, and authorities remain at the scene.

A Greyhound spokesperson says the bus was on a non-stop run from Atlanta to Charlotte.

Ha, ha, ha...full-moon alert. Seriously, you know how bad things are getting. They evacuated a nursing home last week, because of a suspicious package. Seems the maintenance man left a bag of washers with a few wires in it in a corner somewhere.

Not only did they move at least a hundred elderly people out of the nursing home into the parking lot and call the bomb squad, but they had buses come in just in case they had to be taken to another facility. Again, I realize it is good to be safe than sorry, but a month ago, somebody probably could have tripped over that bag and broke their hip, and no one would have even noticed. Unbelievable.

There was also a bomb threat called into the Atlanta Greyhound bus station this afternoon, and the entire station had to be evacuated. I saw it on the nightly news.

Well, these idiots need to be found and jailed..this is ridiculous. We went through the same thing after the Columbine massacre...bomb threats all the time; no one believed them after a while and then KA-boom....it happened again and again. But you never heard about them in the news, because by then it was just considered a "way of life" ...BS. Take names, and kick butt.

Funny you should mention that little bit of info....so do I.

As long as we're poking this subject with a sharp stick, what about the Egypt Air flight that ditched all those passengers? The voice recorder indicated a male praying in Arabic.Dry run? Hmmmmmmmm?

This is true....BUT. We were told about these threats, and we couldn't pin them down. Then it happened. So who's gonna know when it's real and when it isn't? That's the part we gotta figure out. Will we? Or will we just become complacent when the government tells us "nothing to see here, move along" while bus stations all across America are being threatened with bombs and the whole freaking nation comes to a screeching halt because soon no one will want to take planes, trains or buses.

If these are some dumba$$ kids playing jokes, their butts need to be hauled into an ADULT COURT and be made to pay a high price.

Or I can find them and do it for them....;-)

So who's gonna know when it's real and when it isn't?

That's exactly what they wanted to achieve. To create just enough doubt, to shake us out of our secure, cushy lives. Hence, the name terrorism. I think dropping a bomb or a cruise missile or something would go a long way toward helping our psyches. At least then, we wouldn't feel like sitting ducks.

Yes, I know it's true, and it is a full moon. Stop and think about it though: If that Croatian was a terrorist, then we have one less terrorist in this country tonight. I do not take it lightly that there were a few other passengers killed and others injured. However, there are people killed and injured every day. Does that make the general public get hysterical about driving their cars, crossing the streets, shopping, etc. No, and we can not live our lives like that.

Apparently, some people are willing to live in fear, but then they may as well move to some other country, because America is about personal freedom. And another thing, I'm getting real tired of the "government" getting blamed for this. It's just like some people blaming us, the Americans, for the deeds these other terrorists are doing. We should sit around and look inward to see why they do what they do? Someone is always looking to "blame" someone. For God's sake, let's put the blame where it belongs--with the people that do the dastardly acts.

One final thought, IF there was a breakdown in our intelligence, that did not happen overnight. Now, when Ashcroft is asking for certain things to at least close up some immediate holes, there is an outcry about losing personal freedom. Well, if no one is going to leave their houses anyway, won't fly, won't go here or there, they already have surrendered their freedom to the terrorists.

Yet, on all the news outlets, are story after story about POSSIBLE terrorist scenarios, none whatsoever on the ones occuring today in France, Tennessee and Israel, or for that matter those in the recent past that we were told were accidents, but odds are were not.

To: DJ88,
The 11th or 12 of Sept. I heard a story of a couple drunks, somewhere in NY, in a bar, who called in and said they were trapped in the rubble of the WTC

The A-HOLES were arrested!!

"Probably called in by a DOJ hack because the Congress isn't moving fast enough on the new FBI powers laws. Gotta get everyone scared and demanding that Congress give the FBI whatever they want."

Once the truth comes out, you may find you are pretty close to right.

Remember, too:

Oceania has always been at war with East Asia.

Oceania has never been at war with Eurasia.

Ignorance is strength!

Diversity is strength! (Oops, Orwell didn't say THAT, did he?)

That was my thoughts on this morning's phone problems with the 800 #'s. Some raghead probably testing it out to see reaction times and effects. Naybe next time, he'll go after more specific area codes, or even ALL of them.

I do know Ameritec has a lot of camel jockeys and other non-american types working for them. I've had to ask for a rep that I could understand several times.

My thoughts were more sinister than that.....

A common technique of terrorists is to stage a diverison first, wait for police/rescuers to respond, then detonate a larger secondary device to "get" the response team....

Perhaps this was a test to measure our response....

Normally, I don't wear a tinfoil cap but these are not normal times....

How hard would it be for one of OBL's 10,000 Islamic Fascist followers over here to buy a phone card, find a phone booth, and call in a bomb threat? How hard would it be for 10 of them to do this? Or a hundred? Not just once, but 10 times each? Or a hundred times each?

And by the way: why would such activity NOT be considered terrorism? Does it only count as terrorism when somebody actually gets killed?

We are going to see terrorists under every bed and around every corner for the next few months. We are going to have kids being "cute" and calling in these threats. Until we can tell the difference, learn to except the fact that this for our safety. But PUNISH the kids and adults that are giving false reports when they are found to be false.
