Conservative columnist Ann Coulter, fired from her contributing editor perch at the National Review Online, blames it on free-speech hysteria in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks. In a recent online column, Coulter opined that the United States should respond forcefully to the terrorist attacks: "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity," she said. The comment provoked an uproar, and the National Review Online subsequently refused to run another Coulter piece in which she referred to "swarthy males." When Coulter complained, she was fired. Tuesday's Washington Post quotes Coulter as saying she doesn't need friends like that. "Every once in awhile they'll throw one of their people to the wolves to get good press in left-wing publications," she told the newspaper. National Review Online Editor Jonah Goldberg told the Post, "We didn't feel we wanted to be associated with the comments expressed in those two columns." Coulter told the Washington Post she's getting great publicity as a result of the flap.
Blind loyalty however, is just plain silly.
She said something pretty damned stupid.
You may wish to forgive her for that and that's just fine.... but for goodness sake don't defend the stupidity.
You got that right
Thats what makes this country great, isn't it called Capitalism?.
You have been since I've known you.
This is news?
Personally, I prefer to believe she was using hyperbole when discussing forced conversion. If so, she could have been a little more clear.
Arguments about whether Chruistianity is superior to Islam are irrelevant. American will not and should not force any religion on another country or person.
I've seen the fruits of Islam - I've seen the impoverished, oppressed people in Islamic nations. I've seen the subjugated, involuntarily mutilated women in Islamic nations. I've seen the persecution and eradication of every other religion in Islamic nations. I've seen similar elimination of basic freedoms and human rights in those nations. I've seen them export their jihad to other nations, their terror around the world. I saw the attacks on September 11th and I saw the Islamic nations delight in that atrocity.
Approximately 50 years ago - rightly or wrongly - Israel was formed on a small patch of sand. Sand which makes up 1/10th of 1 percent of all the sand that exists in the Arab world - a world that has existed for centuries. I've also seen Israel become something positive in the world - high tech industry, exports, etc.
Thanks for telling it like it is
Biff
He should be the center of attention, not Anne. His writing is entirely derivative. Someday he will get nailed for it too. One can always count on Jonah chiming in with an essay three or four days after every other conservative has written something. Haven't caught him lifting enough to accuse him of plagiarism yet but it is only a matter of time.
HOWLLL of happiness
Bringing the fox of the right to FOX!!!
You can rationalize it if you want...
Have at it.
Of course, your point is very well taken.
