Even by her usual incendiary standards, Ann Coulter's response to the terrorist attacks was something of a jaw-dropper.
"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity," the conservative commentator declared in her column on National Review Online.
Those words created an uproar at the Web site, which refused to run a follow-up piece in which Coulter singled out what she called "swarthy males." She promptly began bad-mouthing National Review, which responded by axing her as a contributing editor.

I've read Bill Buckley since I was 12; I think he's great. But he's never been able to reach some of the people that a fireball like Ann can. Even though he's right most of the time, he still puts many people to sleep. People who would never sit through a Buckley essay can listen to Ann for just a few minutes and say "Hell yeah!"
It would be sweet to have Ann Coulter on Mon-Fri at 10 pm on Fox News Channel for as long as she could take it. It would be perfect. They had Judge Crier, I liked her, but her tone put me to sleep (the Buckley factor). Then Paula Zahn, the liberal, ALWAYS seemed like a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Totally out of place there. She wasn't even a good LIBERAL there.
Offer her a ten year contract Roger; it would be VERY good for business.
Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee. Isaiah 60:5
For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Matthew 13:15
Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. James 5:20
Ann is Christian, Goldberg is Jewish. Any questions?
Did Jonah Goldberg say that we should forcibly convert Africans to Judaism? No. But if he had, would you be defending his comments?
Where do you stand on Bill Maher's comments? One could say he was doing the same thing with his "cowardly" remarks as you say Ann was doing.
Thank you. : )
Good point! I have about as much sympathy for Coulter as I do for Maher. Both say outrageously offensive things for the sake of being outrageously offensive, then cry censorhip when anybody is outraged and offended by their remarks.
And Ann went on Maher's show to whine about being fired from National Review, while Jonah Goldberg has said he'll never agree to appear on Politically Incorrect again.
You don't make a good argument by arguing against something that was never said - unless you meant to imply that the terrorists number in the hundreds of millions. If THAT is what you mean, then you are implying that hundreds of millions of Muslims are terrorists. THAT would be VERY racist. So, you are either very wrong on your point or you are racist against Muslims, one or the other. Words mean things; choose them (and read them) carefully.
Re the Israelis: The Israelis and other Jews do not label people "infidels" and kill them because of their religion. They didn't attack us. They are our friends. We do not share a common religion for the most part, yet we are their strongest ally.
You attempt to make the point that Ann, and those that defend her, want to kill all that are "not like us." Wrong. We want to kill terrorists in defense of our great country. God Bless America.
Convert them to Christianity after they're dead?
I certainly agree with her - we must invade their countries and kill the leaders. Converting religions is silly and unattainable. This is an emotional outburst.
"Militant Islam must destroy America to validate its own existence, therefor we must destroy militant Islam or mankind will be subject to the Darkest Ages of all time."
Stick to your day job; I don't think you'll make the cut for the FR debate team.
Ann Coulter will thrive somewhere other than National Review. I can't boycott them because I don't subscribe.
Why couldn't NR have shown Ann Coulter "grace" given the fact that she is indeed grieving the loss of her friend and fellow on-target patriot, Barbara Olson - and given the fact that the Islamic world wants to convert (while others want to kill) the entire Christian (infidel) world to Islam?
Further - the leftist, communist, totalitarians make noises when one of their own may stray a bit (Maher) but they NEVER TAKE ACTION AGAINST ONE OF THEIR OWN! Indeed, their most extreme propagandists rise to the highest positions of frontline power (Stepalloverus, Russert, the Snake/Lizardman)
Anyway - Ann Coulter - if you do read this thread - I salute you! God bless you!
And, by the way, you were - and are - right!
(Converting people to Christianity - leading them to Jesus Christ - is what the Christain Church is all about. So, perahps, what should have been included in her article was the details: Let our military/intelligence agencies do their part and let the Christian Churches - those still following the command of their Lord Jesus Christ who said to go into all the world to make disciples of ALL NATIONS - go and do the converting (absent the use of military force - which is not necessary - once the truth is presented and people are free to choose between the One true God and the deceit and destruction of Islam.) Ann did not talk about nor would I advocate any kind of "forced" conversions of anyone. Just stop the terrorizing of any who present the truth of the Christian gospel - let its truth and the lives lived by that truth - win the Islamic people to the One True God and His Son, Jesus Christ - and terrorism from the "former Islamic" nations would end over night.
Right now, conversion to Christianity results in death - either to the convert or to members of his/her family - in most Islamic Countries.
Sorry. I'm not participating. I love Ann, but for her to go from one set of girly men (NR) to another (Maher) makes her no better than that two-faced Arianna Huffington.
