No. That's why we're better than the Taliban. They have no freedom of speech or assembly because they're oppressive theocrats. We do have freedom of speech and assembly because we're free Americans with unalienable rights.
And no, I don't agree with the protesters. They're idiots, but they're idiots with rights.
Uh, excuse me, but you are demonstrating against the wrong party. How much more racist and war-like can you get than to want to obliterate a whole people just because they're Americans??? And this war was started by the terrorists. President Bush is simply defending our country, -- which believe it or not includes the likes of you people holding this rally. Maybe you would prefer living under the rule of those whom you are defending, such as the Taliban, -- where your unusual lifestyles are certain to be severely punishable (and there are no gay etc. rallies there, believe me).

I hear that the Taliban's preferred punishment for homosexuals is to have them dig a pit, and then bulldoze them into it, burying them alive and crushing them under the weight of the 'dozer. Women can be summarily shot for a variety of misdemeanors, such as painting their toe nails, wearing make-up, teaching their daughters to read, begging, etc. That last prohibition is particularly cruel -- after 23 years of warfare in Afghanistan, there are plenty of widows with no possible means of support; and they are prohibited to work outside the home. Begging's all many have to depend on to feed their kids.
And this pack of braying asses thinks it's "noble" and "moral" to defend the Taliban and their barbarous ilk on the grounds that they have been "victimized" by the nasty old imperialistic U.S. of A. Talk about a massive flight from reality.... best, bb.
It just shows that liberals would really rather be destroyed than admit they're wrong.

Not going to happen. These people are just making fools of themselves. The reason they will have no effect lies not in suppressing their speech, but in the fact that their ideas are absurd and will fail miserably in the free marketplace of ideas.
Eventually the Taliban moves in and takes over the Government and immediately kills all of those in this group of Anti Americans.

We aren't going to be overrun and occupied by the Taliban or anyone else under any circumstances. They wouldn't even be able to attempt it, even if we didn't have a military. The most they can do is hit and run. Occupation is literally impossible for them, and everyone knows it.
So there is no credible threat of the Taliban ruling us. But we could create our own little Taliban right here. We, ourselves could forbid free speech and assembly from unpopular minorities. The major difference would be the people rounding up and killing dissenters would be clean cut Americans instead of turban clad Islamic fundamentalists. When one is oppressed, does it really matter who does the oppression?
WHAT AM I MISSING HERE?
If you seriously think honoring the 1st Amendment is going to end with a Taliban occupation of the states, you're missing reality.
