According to the training manuals they found during the investigation of the first World Trade Center bombing, they were to not appear outwardly Muslim. That meant they were to wear western clothes without beards. They also were instructed to be silent so as to not reveal their accents They also were not to carry a Koran. The thing I wondered when I looked at their faces was how many of them really knew they were going to commit suicide? They also found in these manuals that it was the practice for only the leader to know the full plans. The "expendables" only got information at the moment they needed it. That way if anything went wrong there would be only the really trained professional who had any compromising information.
