Tony Blair cleared the way yesterday for military strikes against Afghanistan within days....
Say, can you direct me to a website that plots the phases of the moon over Afghanistan? I need to make some TV plans.
I've been saying the same thing since last week. Bush needs to do something before his number's start to fall...then everyone will say he was to weak
Well part of him is.
A tiny part, however.
A twisted part...
The bit Monica took with her...
The pathetically insecure part that got several hundred soldiers and civilians killed, threatened, and/or beat up...
That's not going to go over very well for very long. Now, be honest..if (heaven forbid) Clinton or Bore was in the White House we all would be screaming for action now!! Calling for their head because nothing had been done. I personally want to SEE the action not have them TELL me it has happened.
??? Um, after eight years of Clinton, we are hardly in a position to point fingers.
I think President Bush is only waiting for Jessie Jackson to arrive in Kabul before bombing the s*** out of it . . .
:-)
Clinton DID respond quickly to terrorism. Remember that WAR on terrorism? Weren't we all tickled pink about that quick response (that we all saw). And boy was it successful too.
This isn't gonna be an simple air attack. Troops must train for specific missions on the ground. That takes time if you want to be successful.
And that will be what Gore say's in his 2004 campaign. We responded to the terrorist Bush didn't...he waited and waited and waited.
EXPECTATIONS OF IMMINENT ACTION PLAYED DOWN
Wolfowitz also played down expectations of imminent or spectacular U.S. military action, although he said the armed forces would play a role.
"It can't be stressed enough that everybody who's waiting for a military action because they think that's the definition of a campaign need to rethink that and understand ... that this is a broad campaign," he said.
Do you have any idea how long it takes for an Aircraft Carrier to get into position? Securing of operational bases? Logistics planning? Should we put our soldiers into harms way because of our impatience? Do you want high casualties? Do you realize the lack of intelligence on the ground we have in Afghanistan? Do you understand the terrain of Afghanistan?? Do you realize there are no journalists, much less camera crews allowed into Afghanistan? I could go on. It's a very delicate thing.
I share your feelings but I also understand what we are dealing with. We don't need indiscriminate bombing.
I like watching them squirm. They are waiting for the first shoe to drop.
The longer we wait the more relaxed they will be, as they will think it is the same ol' same ol' US policy.
