I believe that Jews cannot step foot on the Temple Mount for fear of stepping on the "Holy of Holies," (Kadosh haKadosh) i.e., the inner-most sanctuary where the Ark of Covenant rested and where only the high priests were allowed to venture under strict commands and conditions on Yom Kippur (ironically, Yom Kippur starts at sundown tomorrow).

I'm not Jewish, but do know enough to know that it is currently Passover. Yom Kippur is typically in October, though I think sometimes falls into early November (or is it late September?). That's why the Yom Kippur War of 1973 is sometimes referred to as the October War.
