I am pleased to say that calls were about 50/50 for/against the ID card.

This pleases you?? It sickens me....

But thank you very much for calling in. You handled it perfectly. A salute!

A national ID card, REQUIRED to board an airplane, for example, but not for day to day things,

You have to get away from fixating on the planes. That horse has already left the barn

A person walks into the Sears Tower and sprinkles a vial of "X" into the ventilation, infecting 5000 people who go home and hug their kids and kiss their spouses. The next day the kids and spouses spread X through the schools and offices. How would your 'plane' card help here?

OK...so we make it so you DO have to show it for day to day things so the woman has to buy a fake card before she slips into the Sears towers to spread "X". How will the silly card really protect us? Just somebody design a scenerio where that silly card protects us from anything????

You're joking, right? Maybe they could put the tattoo on your butt and then you'd have to cut holes in all your clothes so you could be ID'd.

"Another way you can look at it is, it could be a way to SAVE your freedoms. We're in a touchy situation - and I don't understand all the ramifications....But I would like to trust our leaders until proven otherwise. I doubt there are few things the gov doesn't know about us. It's probably a way to cull out the non-legals."

You're naive as hell. You trust 535 people, too many of whom were Gary Condits to throw out Klinton, to "save your freedoms?"

Look at Nam for an example of how much you can trust Washington. Hoaxed Gulf Of Tonkin "incident" of LBJ's got 58,000 GIs killed. And the draft didn't end because Washington wanted to; it ended because "civil disobedience" was so rampant that the draft effectively got to be voluntary.

My parents and grandparents lived in the U.S. through all of WWII - all the way back to Pearl Harbor - and none of them ever had to carry Nazi-style "papers" in the name of Washington saving their freedoms. I won't either.

Hey now. Someone could shoot you with a poison dart and might hit the "card" instead of you therefore saving your life... It could happen...

Do I win a prize?

I just don't consider them NAZI-style papers.

I don't believe I have a problem with National ID cards either. However, taking my gun away is another story.

Funny that you don't see the connection between the two. I guarantee you that many of the Nat'l ID proponents do.

In fact, our FBI, CIA had all the evidence .... and did NOthing. Our Government has FAILED us.

Precisely. And now they are trying to convince us it's our fault for guarding our privacies too jealously, and they'll do better if we just submit to an ID card, against all the historical evidence to the contrary.

And many people seem to be falling for it. I don't get it.

You seem to know a lot about me.

It's obvious what you are from your posts. You further confirmed the picture when you say that you are a lifetime federal employee (or did you not say this? If not I will admit that I erred) you are by definition a non productive burden on the rest of the country. NASA is nothing but a form of wealth transfer for scientists and engineers (rather than crack heads and welfare queens which I guess is a little improvement, but not much.)

Thank goodness you're not running our government

You and the rest of the drones in government "jobs" better be thankful, because if I were in charge, the NEA, the Commerce department, HUD, HEW, the IRS, and the AFT would be gone, and NASA would be about 1/10 the size it is now. All of the government "workers" whose careers depended on doing something for which there is no demand and no market, but get their money from the loot extorted at gunpoint from those who do useful work would be forced to become productive members of society. But I digress; this is off topic and I only bring it up because you did.

to get back on topic, if you want to live in a society where the government has taken away freedom in the name of security why don't you and all those just like you move to Cuba? It's a perfect example of how freedom has been "preserved" by giving it up. The have national ID cards, and you know, there are darned few hijackings there. Of course you have to give up a little, like living in more than one room and eating regularly and having any wealth at all. But there is your ideal society - go for it

Your(sic) one $hit head

Thank you for confirming my conclusions about you. Oh and I forgot - the EPA would be gone too and all of the drones there would be looking for real jobs too.

The logistics of providing 300 million people with some type of "smart card" makes the entire concept impossible. I wish people would just take a deep breath and stop looking for "NWO jackboots" under their beds. This is getting ridiculous.
