After discussions from a previous thread concerning POW/MIA day on Sept. 21st, I bounced around the idea of finding engravers here at FR to come up with tribute bracelets in the POW/MIA tradition for the victims of the recent attacks on America. In no way do I mean to detract from the respect and honor due the POW/MIA issue.
I am looking to get the ball rolling on this quick.
FR should find a way to auction off the bracelets of the 5000+ victims of these attacks and send the money to the victim's survivor's funds.
We need a source of supply for the bracelets, probably available from POW/MIA sources.
We need a slogan for all the bracelets, a standard phrase or maybe something from the Presidents speech tonight.
We also need engravers.
I am open to suggestions my friends. Help us get this started and help us follow through to completion this fund raising effort. Surely we have the resources at our disposal as a group to make this happen.
We need folks to keep this bumped to the top (bttt)
And last but not least,
"LET'S ROLL"

Ask about a wholesale price. If you need a resale ID# let me know. Or, if FreeRepublic has a tax-exempt number ask about that also.

I really like the idea of a keychain tag, since I don't wear jewelry. And along with FR's logo, I'd sure like to see LET'S ROLL in honor of Beemer (sp?).

What about a separate fund for the families of the hero's of flight 93? At least 3 Patriot Hero's of flight 93, actively participated in preventing that flight from attacking Washington DC. At the ATF meeting (Culver City, California) last night, we donated around $700 to send to the families of the hero's of Flight 93. I believe that memorial bracelets commemorating the hero's of flight 93 would be "hot sellers".
Congress should award medals to the passengers and crew of flight 93. Since we may never know how many of them actually helped in preventing the attack, they should all get medals IMHO. T

I like the idea. The phrase should be something simple, like "Let freedom ring" or "Justice for all" .... actually, I kind of like immortalizing "Let's roll." But years from now, that'll seem odd.

Another idea would be to sell FDNY hats like the one the Mayor is wearing. Each hat would have a badge number of a lost fireman embroidered on the back of it. All procedes go to the families of lost firemen. The same could be done with the NYPD hats.
