So the Reverend David Wilkerson has prophesied that the events in New York City are part of a thirty day judgment on the city and on America.

He predicts thousands of fires, the closing of mass transit and Broadway, city bankruptcy, devastation in the heartland.

If these things do not occur by October 11, Christians need to denounce him as a false prophet and a false teacher. In ancient Israel, he would have been stoned. His little remarks about "This is what I believe the Lord has shown me" does not excuse him.

Either he is a real prophet and should be heeded due to the accuracy of his prophecy from God or he is a false prophet and a false teacher. In the Bible, there is no other type of prophecy or prophet. Those who make such false claims in fact repudiate the true prophecy of the Bible and bring ridicule (deservedly) on their churches. But some of that derision will also fall on the rest of Chritianity who does not stand firmly against this nonsense.

This reminds me of the early Eighties ('82 or '84 as I recall) when Robertson wrote a book declaring the end of the world within one year. Ranted on it for a whole year. None of it ever happened. Did anyone hold him responsible? Nope. Tells you something about the modern prophecy nonsense and the other charismaniac ideas.

This is all just more charismatic babble. They speak in tongues that no one can understand. They make false prophecies without end. The fact that it is demonstrably unscriptural in its ineffectiveness never deters them. They never learn.

Let's hope he is.

These are not mr. wilkerson's first prophecies... plural. A follower of kathryn kuhlman, along with others, LOTS of weird stuff officially considered to be prophetically uttered, NOT fulfilled. And they whine when the Pope speaks with "authority" and then changes or adapts over time and experience. These folks are so wishy washy... sad. The God they claim to serve is not confused, why are they acting like HE is: could it be they aren't sure they heard from HIM to begin with? YES, indeed they are.

False prophets whom misrepresent God almighty, do our nation much harm. I am not sure that this fellow is a calling himself a prophet, but I think his pronouncements are in error.... and that consistantly.

In biblical israel... they had one song for false prophets..."We will, we will.... ROCK you!"

If these folks had ANY accuracy, we would be using them instead of AEGIS battle systems and satellites to detect incoming attacks and to direct our war movements.

Instead they make a laughingstock of all that is holy... and tell stories "through a glass darkly" in order to gain resources and influence over people, usually through irrational fear.

Sad that the "gospel" of Christ has come down to this very low level.

The scriptural penalty for false prophesy ensured it never happened twice. How many modern prophets would be willing to take the test?

I hate to come to his defense, but he didn't say the thirty days would start now, so it wouldn't have to happen by October 30. I'm not worried either, though.
