A NEW SOCIAL CLUB JUST FOR NYC FREEPERS...
"Manhattan FReeper Happy Hour: A place to come together."
The World Trade Center horror has been hard on all of us New Yorkers. NYC FReepers need to stick together and just socialize right now. We need a place we can go to leave behind the debates, the politics, and the agendas, and just learn to be friends. This new Yahoo! club's SOLE PURPOSE is to give us a place -- away from FreeRepublic -- to invite each other out for drinks, dinner and chat.
Yahoo! Club: Manhattan FReeper Happy Hour
This club is exclusively for NYC FReepers. If you have friends you know well who are interested and friendly to our cause, however, feel free to invite them. Encourage them to also join FreeRepublic.
BEGIN!
Let's all start by first joining the club (click on the link), posting a message on our new Web page introducing ourselves, and letting people know what neighborhood we are from.
Suggest some good watering holes near your home and work (in Manhattan, please) and try to give us the address and streets.
This club is private -- e-mail addresses are not given out.
You can join by visiting the link and subscribing -- in which case I will have to activate your membership. OR you can FReepmail me your private e-mail address, and I can invite you in.
Let's get started! We can gradually build our membership, meet each other, and have some fun!

In addition, for the last 2 days whenever I go to www.freerepublic.com I get a totally strange page saying the website is underconstruction. It has the Free Repulic.com name on it but it does not look anything like this one. I'm totally baffled. The only reason I have even gotten to this thread is because I booked it on my ISP rather than through FR and it just happens to have come up on my browser. I have no idea if this post will even work. Anyone else having trouble access FR or is it just me? Thanks.

I'll announce a place to meet for this week and next week.
