I had a feeling Muslims would object. I felt a "twinge" of discomfort at how it would sound to all sorts of religious people, and to Muslims most of all.

Then again...Since Muslims, like us, think events happen according to God's plan--- shouldn't they be happy to have us use a phrase that suggests He is really in charge? (If it makes them happier, they can take the phrase to mean that since God is in charge, Muslims will win. )

I'm very happy knowing that Rumsfeld's prayer was that we would seek to be on God's side, rather than seek to have Him be on ours. I think this prayer emphasizes our willingness to bow to God's will. Unlike the more fanatic Muslims, we are willing to allow others to bow to God's will according to God's time schedule, rather than force innocent people to adhere to the man-made "conversion schedule" of a man-made theocracy.

My thoughts are that Rumsfeld knows exactly what he is saying and exactly what that term means and exactly what the effect is on our enimies. His comments about being offensive is a very dry humorus remark. Do you recall that President Bush I used a pronunciation of Saddam Hussen's name that ment "Boot Black" or "Polisher of Shoes" when he mentioned the name in a speach. This is great, the adults are truly running the program now!

Look at it this way: If you are absolutely, positively convinced, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that two plus two equals four, do you get offended if someone with an IQ of 45 says, "Two plus two is five," with a straight face?

No, you smile, feel sorry for them, maybe "Tsk, tsk," behind their back, but you don't take offense.

Idea for name: Operation Bite 'Dem Heads and Suck 'Dem Brains
