No American interest, huh? An armed, fanatical group of people determined to bring down our entire country and way of life doesn't qualify, I guess.

It may help to engage your brain when you read - you'll realize that Buchanan didn't say what you suggest. There appear to be a number of Bush fanaticals on this thread - the combined brain power is underwhelming.

See my post #10 -- and as for "brain-power," you Patsies couldn't light a birthday candle.

Clearly Buchanan didn't say that, as you say. He either totally ignored the undeniable fact that Tuesday's outrageous atrocity was perpetrated by "an armed, fanatical group of people determined to bring down our entire country and way of life", or he just doesn't realize it. Either way, because of this glaring and obvious error, Pat's counsel is simply worthless. Surely someone with overwhelming brainpower would pick that up in a second, but I guess you were too busy with ad hominem attacks toward the Bush "fanatics" to realize that. Bush fanatics? That ranks as much an oxymoron as a "a calm and reasoned discussion by Buchcanan... ites."
Bye, Pat, Bye.

Not only on this thread but every other it would seem. Never seen so many armchair warriors creeping out of the woodwork.

All of them live in denial it would seem...since "foreign entanglements" is what got us here I cannot imagine that furter "foreign entanglements" will do anything but start WW3. But then there seem to be many at FR that think technology and military might will make the Taliban and their ilk roll over. If the Russians failed against a lightly armed enemy of determined guerilla fighters what makes all you people think that the opposite will be true for us?

Our ignorance of the determination of these people will be the first step to military failure.

Nephi

The same people who are critizing people on this board for calling attention to an arrogant and bullying U.S. foreign policy that may have contributed to last week's terrorist act are the same ones who have their lips permanently affixed to the rear end of the Republican party. In their minds, freedom and liberty take a backseat to partisan party politics.

Those who call attention to this country's interventionist foreign policy are branded as "traitors" and "turncoats." The my-country-right-or-wrong patriots don't want to be bothered with why terrorists attacked us last week attack. All they want is revenge, not just against the perpetrators of this attack, but against against all Muslims. The mindless calls for massive retaliatory strikes (and the use of nuclear weapons), which will result in the deaths of hundreds or even thousands of innocent civilians, will merely inflame the hatred of Muslims and create a new wave of terrorism. Buchanan is right on target in his criticism of this country's interventionist foreign policy, calling it the "incubator of terrorism." Why is that so difficult for some people to understand?

Thanks, Nephi, for bringing a tad of reason to this forum. And thanks for posting the excellent article by Pat Buchanan. Whatever one thinks of Mr. Buchanan, no one can dispute the fact that he has been out front warning of the dire consequences of this country's meddling -- and often murderous -- foreign policy, which has made enemies of the United States around the world. Is anyone listening?

But you notice they do pretend to read his essays. It's hard to say if they really can't understand what he writes, or they simply misrepresent him in order to have a straw argument to defeat.
