Lets Say the Clerics Give Us BinLaden....Then What ?
Posted on 09/17/2001 7:12:03 PM PDT by Dallas
It would be a disaster for the U.S. if he surrenders. We'd be under constant attack from Islamic extremist trying to free him. Unless we turned him, and he gave up everyone in his network. Otherwise, his legend would live on in the mind of his followers.
I would think Allah would be pleased with his sacrifice if he turned himself in. He would surely advance his cause by becoming a martyr at the hands of the great white satan. This coward could really strike a blow by giving himself up.
Any thoughts ?

I'm inclined to agree. It seems more important to me to make an example of the Taliban by bombing them to bits.

I agree. We probably need to go in to Afghanistan and take out the Taliban or we will just be in for lots more trouble, later. If they give us Bin Laden, what excuse do we have to do that? We're just stuck with Bin Laden and having to try him or something, and how can we enter Afghanistan to eliminate the Taliban if they have just done what we asked? Our "allies" would go nuts if we went in, anyway. I am sure there are contingency plans being made to deal with this possibility, but it looks pretty dicey to me.

Perhaps a Pakistani Jack Ruby ?

It would be a disaster for the U.S. if he surrenders.I don't think so. If Iran and Pakistan assist, they'll stick pretty close to us from now on; they'll need our protection from the radicals in their own countries.
OTOH, lots of drug lords still manage to run their operations from prison, so letting this snake live could be dangerous.

Not really a problem. We would try him and convict him. Before we fried him, we would indicate to the world that he had told us that his sponsor state was Iraq. This would be the cover to go after Sadaam once and for all. After taking out Sadaam, we could then say that the Iraqi people want to be the 51st state in our union. This would give us the oil that we need and the staging area that we need to go after Syria,Iran, Libya and any other terrorist states.

Strap him into a drone aircraft. Play some really bad 70s rock. Jefferson Starship, for example. Then aim the thing at the shrine of our choice. It doesn't even have to be a real shrine, since it would be lowering ourselves to destroy anyone's shrine. But we do have Hollywood, computer graphics, holographs, etc. A sensor could be placed in the seat to detect the sudden discharge of urine or feces.

I've said it several times on other threads: We are making a mistake focusing on bin Laden. He is but one man in a HUGE web of international terrorist intrigue.
Did we declare "game over" when those two P-38s assassinated Adm. Yamamoto in 1942?

If Garbage Bin Laden turns himself in, we should take a lesson learned from certain indian tribes in our country and turn him over to the widows, widowers and children of his victims, as said tribe turned such trash over to the squaws. His fate would be completely up to them, and the laws of the land against such would be suspended as long as necessary.

Yes, I think we should give him a thorough transfusion...with the blood of a pious Christian.....

Maybe....,but the downside is much greater I fear.
We certainly can't cut off the head in this instance, and expect the body to die.

Taliban? Afghanistan?
Try this on for size: Iraq and our ol' buddy Saddam; Libya; Sudan; Algeria; perhaps Syria and Iran, too. And this list could be expanded.
I HOPE AND PRAY that our national leadership has more vision and understanding of the true size of this conflict than the average FReeper apparently does. If YOU PEOPLE don't get it, how can the American people hope to get it?

Even though your opinions differ... I agree with all of you. I would just like to use this attack as a reason to get as many of these terrorists in as many countries as possible. Maybe about 1,000 stray cruise missiles could hit some nuclear programs and other military sites... ect... ect...
