The great Marxist tactician Antonio Gramsci was, fortunately for the West, never recognized as Communism's greatest talent. Had Lenin, Stalin et alia caught onto Gramsci's brilliance earlier, the war against Communism might have gone differently.

Gramsci's key insight was the marriage of Hegelian dialectic theory to communism revolution. By introducing "agents of change" into Western institutions who were really sleepers for the communist cause, he would weaken the very institutions that guaranteed the West's moral and philosophical stability.

Even though we whipped Communism, the toxic effects of Gramscism linger. Our churches are cheerleading organizations for dictators like Castro. Our universities are more hostile to western ideals than the worst enclaves of Radical Islam. Our entertainment and popular culture? The process of recovery will take decades.

So it bears asking, how would Gramsci handle radical Islam?

Would he seed the Middle East with sleeper imams, friendly to Western goals? Would he introduce agents of change into these societies to reconstruct their value systems? Would he set up new Islamic academies, where the curriculum is friendly to the West?

This will be a total war. Let's learn from our previous enemies, and ask ourselves "What Would Gramsci Do?"

I don't know you, and I surely don't bear you any ill will. I believe you may have misunderstood me.

What I am proposing is an information war against Islam to go alongside our traditional war. Some of our historic enemies (Communists) mastered this form of warfare. I believe we can learn from their tactical expertise.

I am NOT proposing that we use Gramscian tactics to Gramsci's ends! Are you saying that this kind of warfare is inherently corrupt, inherently Leftist? If so, you may be right. I do not pretend to have all the answers.

The other thing that troubles me about this approach is the possibility that Gramscianism is intrinsically corrupting.

It has the feel of a dark art to me, and I wonder if anyone can really employ it without being contaminated.

Christianity, when allowed to flourish, is Gramscianism in form, yet healing not corrupting. It is the thing Islam fears the most. Islam depends on our Corruption of Christianity in our society to plant it's seed. The hook and bait that Islam uses is religious 'purity'. The secular society that has forced homosexuality, porn, drugs and capitalism as the forefront of our society has made the "Christian Nation" look like hypocrites. It matters not if the Christians do not live this lifestyle, they allow it. If Christian Morals were once again the foundation of our Nation, Islam would collapse of its own weight.

Islam is Religious Slavery, and is NOT fun to live with or in. However the freedom of Christ is a blast, freedom FROM sin, not freedom to SIN.

I don't know that Gramsci would "handle" radical Islam. Gramscism is a strategy specifically designed to undermine liberal democracies, which grant a bunch of freedoms that radical Islam considers perversions: freedom of religion, opinion, the press, etc. It's not like Marxists are invisible, secret agents. They survive, and thrive, only in societies where slight deviations from the norm are permitted, and where they can recruit more initiates. Radical Islam offers no such liberties. Radical Islam's answer to Gramscians is, I think, to chop their heads off.
