Brian, No, this is not what he said. He said what the Bible says, that God allows things like this to happen. Remember, God gave us a free will. That means we are free to do good or evil. Man became evil in the garden and that is why we need a Savior. Thank God we have one.

Ask Jesus into your heart, mean it, and you will be saved. Not perfect. You'll still possess your sinful nature as all Christians do, but you will receive the grace provided by Jesus on the cross. There, He took the punishment for our sins and thereby provided the only way to be forgiven. He became our Savior, if you want saving. You only need to ask. He won't force it on you. It's your free will to accept or reject Him. I highly recommend the former rather than the latter.

Think on it. Pray about it. This is the only prayer He can hear from the unsaved. He said He is THE (emphasis mine) way, the truth and the life. He can not lie. Trust Him. You'll receive the peace that passes all understanding. Trust Him, not me.

Gee Brian, last I checked Falwell didn't enforce his ideas at gun point. Nothing about the Taliban is voluntary. Falwell has free speech just like you do. Free speech allows many to expose their ignorance (or worse). Free speech is not a concept the Taliban understand in the slightest.

Jerry Fallwell is correct in that the people of the liberal agenda (homos, feminazis, and other commies) have helped to feminize and basically de-ball this country. Brian, there are a lot of opinions running around. Even mine is pretty harsh. I think emotions are taking over in many cases, sometimes even me.

In addition to the popular opinion that Bin Laden was behind this, there are those who think that he had help from the Taliban, Arafat , Saudi Arabia, & the UAE among others. I've heard opinions saying that China is also involved. I've heard that Israel has a lot to gain by this. And I've also heard that there may be groups that think it is their duty to drag us into a large conflict to fulfill the prophecies of the Old and New testaments who may also find ways to support an attack on us.

I wouldn't hold Fallwell in the same contempt as the Taliban, not even close. I believe he has retracted it and clarified it, explaining the comment as a stream of consciousness. He doesn't advocate murder to advance Christianity. He just profoundly believes that God plays an active role in civilization, and thinks that He would punish us for our libertine ways. There are far worse thoughts on earth than that.

In a very emotional time as the one we are living right now, everybody should be very careful on what they say. That goes from TV anchormen (see the disgracing example of ABC's Peter Jennings), to politicians (see the double disgracing example of Rep. Meehan) to Freepers.

Falwell, speaks from his point of view. Of course, what he says would be more credible if he wasn't so incredible as a Christian. However, for those who believe in God, what Falwell said is true, so, heed the message and not the messanger.

People need words of confort, and that is understandable. However, and at the same time, the root causes of the malaise MUST be addressed, otherwise, what has happened will be only the beginning of an increasing spiral, and then there will be no more confort to be given.
