Should I believe my ears? Did one of the analysts on Fox News just say that estimates of fatalities were in the range of 10,000 persons? If so, this dwarfs everything. How many died at Pearl Harbor? In Viet Nam? The Korean War? At Hiroshima or Nagasaki?

We're at war. Who are we fighting against?

In terms of non-war event, this will far outrank them all- and I may be mistaken, but if these early reports are correct, even the bloodiest of Civil War battles if you count the vast number of injuries on top of deaths. But it's not just the casualties- consider that every plane in the US has been grounded, the Capitol evacuated, major cities shut down, schools closed, markets closed, and the populace in a general state of fear, governments have shut down...these people have virtually crippled the world.

Marathon, you get the Neville Chamberlain award today. We have let terrorist attacks go unanswered for the last decade. Nobody has paid the price, from Mogadishu to Saudi to the Sudan.
