First, I was shocked. Then I cried. Then I decided, forget college for today. I am angry, really angry about what is happening, but I say God have mercy on the people who did this to us, because we won't.
I'm going back to crying. Lord, I am angry.

All;
I know this may not be popular at this moment, but here it is: We are called not to vengeance, but to forgiveness. ("Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord" - not ours.)
Likewise, JUSTICE is what our government should seek, not blind, furious retribution. To kill one more innocent in response to these murders would simply enlarge the injustice perpetrated here. So let's cool the talk of throwing nukes at whomever your pet scapegoat happens to be. This act was the responsibility of a reasonably small group of people (in all likelihood); they, but ONLY they - should be held fully accountable. That said, let Justice be done, Marathon

Your figures are probably misconceived. The towers sit on top of the largest subway station in all of NY.

Half the West Bank and Gaza and Southern Lebanon is celebrating right now, handing out candy. The schools over there teach their kids to be martyrs, going to heaven for killing the "enemy"
Its not some small group. We'll find out who did it, who spawned it, who knew about it, and then we'll take care of them. This is an Act of War, jerkoff. Get with the Program.

CNN reported that 150,000 people per day visit the WTC's.

We are called not to vengeance, but to forgiveness Marathon, to forgive someone, they must first ask for forgiveness. I don't expect to see any of the terrorist masterminds step forward anytime soon to confess, accept responsibility, ask forgiveness, and accept the consequences. There is a time to talk of forgiveness, and now is NOT the time.
You are also making the assumption that this was in fact the act of a terrorist group, rather than, say, a nation-state engaging in acts of war.

Get with the Program. I understand, and share, the horror everyone is feeling right now. But the way many people are reacting is unconcionable. I am seeing knee-jerk Fascism, about as contrary to liberty and the ideals and principles of this country as may be. So they hate us. Forgive them. So they cheer these horrible acts. How many of you have I seen cheer when some tragedy struck someone you've scapegoated? Should you die for it?

"It's possible most of those on the lower floors escaped."
I think it's likely thousands on the lower floors got out before the collapse. I just hope they cleared out of the area once they got out and weren't milling around in the street.

Marathon, with
ALL due respect and in the nicest voice I can possibly muster...
Shut the heck UP!

In terms of non-war event, this will far outrank them all- and I may be mistaken, but if these early reports are correct, even the bloodiest of Civil War battles if you count the vast number of injuries on top of deaths. But it's not just the casualties- consider that every plane in the US has been grounded, the Capitol evacuated, major cities shut down, schools closed, markets closed, and the populace in a general state of fear, governments have shut down...these people have virtually crippled the world.

How many of you have I seen cheer when some tragedy struck someone you've scapegoatedYou must be a retard. More people will have died today (probably) than in the Vietnam and Korean Wars combined. If first indications are correct, foreign government(s) encouraged and facilitated (PLA at the least) this attack
During Wartime, you dont parse out who approved and who quietly disapproved. As far as I can tell, the entire govt and people of the West Bank approve of this behavior
It will be the end of liberty if we let this act of aggression go unanswered, or bogged down in the pathetic court system with that shark of lawyers and judges who could give two spits about "justice". Thats all we need, ravenous lawyers and leftists holding up our defense of our right to life, liberty and justice. ..Such stupidity (you obviously dont know anyone who might have died. I do,fyi)

Marathon, you get the Neville Chamberlain award today. We have let terrorist attacks go unanswered for the last decade. Nobody has paid the price, from Mogadishu to Saudi to the Sudan. HAd somebody paid the price then tens of thousands of Americans would be alive now instead of lying dead in the streets of New York.
The purpose of our government is to protect our rights and the way to achieve that purpose now is to hunt down and kill every son of a bitch who had anything to do with this. Less recidivism that way.

we are at war ... Only if our namby pamby Congress says so. Our beautiful WA Republican congresswoman Jennifer Dunn was on the radio saying this is an act of war. "It's a new kind of war." She has more cojones than most congresspersons, but surely others will follow suit and declare we are at war.
But with whom?
