Will the Worst Casualty be Liberty?

My apologies to the innocent victims of today's cowardly attack on our free republic, but I believe there are some questions we need to be asking ourselves right now---
When the smoke clears, and retribution is exacted, will the United States of America ever be the same?
Or will this be the perfect cover for those who would destroy what remains of our personal freedom as Americans?
Out of of fear, will the sheeple cry for even more restraints on our liberty than have already been exacted, and welcome tyranny with open arms?
I believe these are all very important questions to begin to consider on this Black Tuesday.
I hope and pray that in the days ahead, Free Republic will be a center of opposition to that move against the Bill of Rights which is almost surely to come.

I don't understand your reply to EternalVigilance. Isn't our freedom the most important thing in our structure of government?
My prayers go out to your nephew. I hope he took the day off today and stayed home.

I think the possibly 10000 people who died today would like some Liberty. That's the real casualty. Not some supposed slippery slope advancement of some agenda.

Heck, many freepers seem willing to join the sheeple. At least one commented that he was willing to sacrifice his gun rights to fight the "war."

I will ignore your emotional shot at me, and tell you---I am praying for your nephew, specifically, as well as for every other innocent victim.
If there was more I could do, I would.

I believe the simple answer is pilots and co-pilots should all be required to wear a side arm.

You are an absolute jerk!
To: EternalVigilance
Amen. I stand for freedom in the face of threats to our security.

My nephew works, or worked on 58th floor at WTC South. Explain it to him. In the meantime, Mr. Armchair Patriot, go fuck yourself! I am sorry for what appears, tragically, to be your great loss. I know that it is easy for someone not directly affected by a tragic event to say it, but it is no less necessary: please try, however difficult it may be, to not let this horrible series of events lead you to embrace measures that will irrevocably change our way of life. This is exactly what the perpetrators of these incidents wanted - don't give in to them, or to your very natural feelings.
Again, I am sorry for your apparent loss. G-d bless you and your family.

This will be the end of the Bill of Rights. The ststists will use this to finish off what freedom we have left.

I don't understand your reply to EternalVigilance. Isn't our freedom the most important thing in our structure of government? We're under attack. That "we" is the United States of America. Thousands of our fellow citizens died today. You don't want to fight against the enemies of the United States who just attacked us, you can go to hell.

First they create the problem....Then they offer up the solution.

Just wanted a little while to grieve or sort this out or whatever. And reading some guy's thesis on "not letting this change us" isn't the best way to recovery.
