War has been brought home to us in a very dramatic way. Television has a way of doing things with war that isn't reality.
God Bless America and may Bush do the right thing

Durban Conference, and its tragic outcome...
Liberty's enemies are operating inside the US, at the UN headquarters.

>Now, has anyone been able to learn if the Palestinian Democratic Liberation Front is a real organization or a hallucination. Arafat claims no responsibility I believe I heard Jennings talk about this organization. Did a lot of plane hijacks in 70s but lately has been focusing on gun violence.

As far as laying the blame and our intell failure, it's critical to note that we have NO human intelligence on the ground in the areas that count in the middle east.
Our DoS and CIA assets in the middle east are only capable of going to embassy parties, or running western oriented "proprietary front" companies. But they can't walk 100 yards into the souk or market or back alleys without being spotted and put at great danger. We just don't have the kinds of spies who can go undercover in a group like the Osama Bin Laden (OBL) group. Nobody.
So yes, I would have to say that the fact that it was a large, expensive, coordinated, and suicidal attack with no fore warning tends to point at OBL, who is capable of sending a dozen or more suicide teams into the USA weeks in advance. The Palis couldn't do it without Mossad knowing. Only OBL or someone on that level we don't even know could do it.
God Bless America.

"NYC emergency personnel are pleading for people to give blood today. NYC blood donation centers are apparently overwhelmed and need people from all over the country to donate. Blood can be kept for at least a couple of days and flown in when flights are allowed." For those who feel helpless, at least you'll be doing something positive...MUD

Your generation knows how to deal with tragedies of this sort, 'Bert. We need your perspective today.

You have that exactly right. We take action against NATIONS that harbor these cowards and criminals. I am in favor of turning them into fused glass.
To: rintense
We must now resolve, as a nation, to make such a killing that no group will ever consider such an action, ever again. That if a person suggests attacking the US in a "large" way that his own lieutenants will shoot him dead. We must kill and kill and kill as no other nation ever has. And I am serious and not even upset about the idea. We must end the very notion that this is possible in a very real sense or we will never be able to live in a just world again. Forget trials, forget international conventions, forget mercy, or rights or even justice. Find the people involved, find the nations in which they are harbored, and kill eveyone, men, women, children, with every weapon in our inventory, nuke them first then bomb them again and then send in soldiers on the ground to paint the lines. When everyone is dead, salt the ground. Find anyone related to them and kill them as well and their neighbors. Make a smoke that will be remembered in a thousand years so that _no one_ will ever again consider such actions in their wildest nightmares.
What bothers me is that as I write this, I'm not even upset. Simply resolved.

We have to make it clear to our enemies that we will retaliate 10 fold the damage they inflict on us. Starting within 24 hours and continuing as long as necessary.
To: A+Bert
I believe I heard the words, "Nuke 'em" coming out of the mouth of a Gore-voting, former Peace Corp, liberal, San Francisco-raised co-worker this morning.

Bump for the headline. Cooler heads will prevail.
NPR already is talking about what "trade-offs" of liberty will be in order to make ourselves more "secure" in the future.
This probably makes the likes of Cohen, Ford, Clinton, Bush, Kissinger, et al. very happy. That's something to think about.

Bush is talking of 'hunting down" those folks ... (the suicide hijackers, one assumes?) ... who carried out these acts. "Terrorism against the United States will not stand."
Probably should have thought that through before using a certain amount themselves for dramatic effect. Not just here at home but abroad where the Uncle Sam's clean hands now are reaping what they've sown. The Message They're Sending is Essentially the Same Thing
Perhaps they'll be rethinking their "strategic partnerships" now that things aren't quite so contained as OKC.
I'll be interested to see how long it takes for them to "bulldoze" the remains of these tragedies.
Bush is talking of "hunting down" the terrorists (those primarily responsible already dead, one assumes). "Terrorism against the U.S. will not stand" says he.
Probably should have thought that through before Uncle Sam's clean hands started sowing -- at home and abroad -- more than they care to reap when what goes around comes around.

I guess I know now why Mr Bush was elected. I hope he is on his knees now praying for wisdom. There may be a bigger loss of life here than Pearl Harbor. At least the Japs attacked a military station, and that brought us into WW2. Will this cowardly attack bring us to WW3? Get out your Bible people and read Revelations.

Eat $hit and die, Michael, you ol' terrorist-symp you.
Stop helping NATO aid the Islamic Albanian invaders in their crusade to conquer Macedonia and the rest of south-east Europe. Start defending the persecuted, inslaved, tortured and murdered Christian martyrs in China, N. Korea, Phillipines, Afganistan, Sudan, and now America. Blowing up an aspirin factory in Khartoum will not be sufficient. Although not all Muslims are involved, any who do not immediately join us in defending ourselves and our allies against this Jihad are certainly our enemies.
To: A+Bert
As the French Bishop said - "Kill them all, God will know his own."
To: apackof2
"I fear we have awoken a sleeping giant, and filled him with fearful resolve."
Two questions
1 Who did this?
2 why are they still alive.
Terrorists have shown us once again that we can still be shocked. Today is a day for shock tommorow will be the time for rage, calm cold rage.
Assuming (remember OKC) this his been sponsered(sp) by an arab country, they WILL find out just what war is alll about.

Yassir Arafat's reign must end...MUD Yes. The US should declare that we are now officially on Israel's side in the current conflict, and Bush must tactfully inform our Secretary of State that either he must stop the moral equivalence nonsense, or he must resign.
