Interesting read, but I'm still thinking that we are in for some very rough times ahead. The next few years are probably going to be tough as we recover from the hangover caused by the internet bubble. It will probably be several years before the economy begins to really rally again.

Well I hope he's correct, then I'll be all smiles in 2004. I won't feel bad about investing in B2B and NASDAQ about 9 months ago. Ouch.

The Republicans are crafting a bill which would entail spending $71 billion for new rail construction to ease congested passenger and freight transport.

That infrastructure was there 25 years ago; Congress just let the constantly merging rails tear it all up because the rails didn't want to maintain it any more. They figured they could skinny down the route network and get by, cheaper -- well, they couldn't, and Union Pacific just proved it by tying itself in a knot last year.
