Clinton served out a full two terms, it was known well in advance what his last day in office would be. It was certainly known months in advance that he would be able to finish out his full term. So there is no reason for them to have acted in a panic, as if they were being driven out on short notice.

I REALLY believe that in the last days the Clintons believed the American people loved them so much that they would be asked to stay in the White House. I am still shocked that the two left at all.
