Actually, her lawyer felt that a civil suit would have been the best course of action, but Condit had already publicly accused her of doing this just for money and you don't file a civil suit except for monetary damages so they went this route instead. The Star, (that her two roomates sold the original story to), has already come forward and said that they never paid Anne Marie one dime. She received no money from Fox or CNN other than her airfare to get to the show. I give her a lot of credit. She can't be proud of herself and she can't enjoy admitting her part in this. She has already said she really disappointed her father. She has done a lot to prove to the 18th district of CA and the rest of us that Condit is a liar and a user of women from long ago and their hope, (from what her attorney has said), is that by filing this suit the grand jury will investigate and perhaps put pressure on Condit or his staff to plea bargain and talk.

She has been asked by the authorities not to disclose all that she told them. This is normal procedure in an investigation. However, I think as time drags on and she sees no progress, she may just spill her guts and tell all. Especially when she is so maligned in the media.
